Job Description
Job Title: GA Torque Coordinator
Factory ZERO is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished General Assembly Torque Coordinator who will provide torque engineering support to the GA maintenance department.
Description
While working in Manufacturing Maintenance, you will be responsible for operations, maintenance and repair of plant equipment. Work requires the ability to make decisions based on established procedure. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Use of independent judgement. May involve training others.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for Torque Engineering within GA Tech Support Group
* Manages Torque Engineering projects including new, replacement, operations improvements.
* Responsible to manage a 3rd part small tool team ensuring all T&E Bulletins and PCPs are maintained and met
* Responsible to pass yearly Torque Audit
* Participates in functional area plant meetings and related functions to represent GA and to assist in improving the plant's performance goals
* Communicate issues to proper parties within affected departments
* Provides technical support and direction to support personnel within the organization
* Investigates system and equipment problems and provides technical input in problem resolution
* Works with Central office teams to promote common systems and best practices
* Communicates project requirements to plant staffs and coordinates activity
* Develops cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests, and plans for torque related project activity
* Assists in the development of a project support plan between plant, GMNA, and contractor resources.
* Assures common controls architecture for all new and revised tooling and equipment
* Maintains proficiency in their field
* Supports and drive GMS implementation initiatives
* Utilizes statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems
* Investigates equipment problems utilizing the Problem Solving Process
* Enforces safe work practices as the highest priority and implements objectives for ergonomics, health/safety, and housekeeping
* Maintains good working relationships with peers, hourly employees, union, management, supplier community and interfaces with necessary support functions outside of the assembly plant
* Mechanical/Electrical aptitude with the ability to grasp complex systems easily
* Ability to multitask in a highly flexible environment
* Develops and monitors planning timetables and project schedules
* Reports planning progress to all departments impacted
* Utilizes best practices and common systems to support the overall Competitive Manufacturing Initiative
* Coordinates and communicates the development of changes to improve conditions for the assembly process
* Ensures long term, cost effective maintenance of equipment and facility
* Manages projects to minimize investment cost while providing facilities that require a minimum operating cost (maximum throughput, energy efficiency, etc.)
Qualifications:
Required
* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
* Leadership skills including planning, scheduling, and implementation of project work by unionized plant trades or outside contractors.
* Experience with Vehicle Assembly process equipment, knowledge of system engineering, software development & hardware integration.
* In-depth working knowledge of Altas torque controllers and guns.
* Highly developed oral & written communication skills.
* High level of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to other's points of view & to make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems.
* Demonstrated ability to listen to & support Team Members.
* Thorough understanding of planned and predictive maintenance and the Maximo system.
* Thorough understanding of GM Safety policies, specifications, and audit module requirements.
* Ability to work weekends managing trades to cover Group Leaders
Preferred
* Highly developed knowledge of integration plant floor monitoring systems &/or simulation techniques.
* Experience/knowledge of GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS).
* Experience working in a team environment.
* Knowledge of continuous improvement processes.
* Knowledge of Competitive Manufacturing Strategies
