Job Description

The Role

We design experiences to deliver delight and value to our customers. These designed experiences are at the core of our relationship with our customers. With ever-advancing technology, there is enormous opportunity to be the first to compose and deliver amazing new experiences that truly build on that relationship. The Advanced Concept & Tech Design Lead will be pivotal in bringing to life advanced concepts that explore new experience enabled by the latest technologies.

We are seeking a candidate that habitually follows the latest technologies and standards and looks to understand what they mean for new and exciting user experiences. This Design Lead should have a good understanding of product planning in both longer vehicle and hardware development time scales and shorter mobile and software development time scales. This role also requires a keen eye for the latest future-forward trends in design, conversational UI, and anticipatory services and features. The Advanced Concept & Tech Design Lead will maintain an ever-updating perspective on how customer expectations are being changed and where they could be changing next.

In addition to being tech forward, this person can lead projects independently and is versatile and more generalist than specialist in their designer skillset. This role will require painting conceptual visions with whatever means most efficient and impactful for many different audiences. We will be telling compelling stories visually and verbally.

We are looking for a designer that will show themselves as valued partner across the organization and beyond: a designer that will effectively team with designers and UX researchers on concept design while also opening the door for downstream product execution roles to compose exciting future concepts. This role is envisioned to also support the greater design group by broadcasting new relevant tech insights, encouraging innovation on every project. The Design Lead will be critical in connecting advanced projects that graduate to production groups and teams. The individual in this role will regularly facilitate lean UX and design thinking methods when hosting workshops and brainstorming sessions to capture and evolve ideas, discover interesting opportunities, and stimulate innovation.

Building connections and establishing trust with team members and stakeholders is the foundation of success in this position. The Design Lead will often be asked to represent their leaders, the design group, sometimes the organization, and occasionally the company.

We are looking for boldness and authenticity. We are makers. We seek individuals with a voice and vision, who design with compassion and empathy. If you are a thoughtful and talented leader who is looking to have real impact and make millions of customers' lives better, come join our team.

Responsibilities

* Independently drive, lead, and deliver on advanced concept and technology design projects.

* Compose, present, and/or support compelling visions of future experiences through mockups, journey depictions, infographics, storyboarding, animations, prototypes, and any other means necessary.

* Facilitate regular group workshops and brainstorming sessions, utilizing lean design thinking methodologies, to find, gather, and explore experiences around high concept and advanced use-cases.

* Work with advanced teams across the organization. Represent the design team and organization in those forums and engagements.

* Provide design and working team leadership through example and clear communication.

* Collaborate closely with product designers to support crafting of world-class user experiences across products and platforms - elevating design output through constructive feedback and effective, clear communication.

* Work with product owners and key stakeholders to brainstorm and identify opportunities, executing them as a seamless part of the overall user experience.

* Work both within a well-documented design system and/or trailblaze new UI patterns that potentially add to the system when needed.

* Measure and analyze user experience research, user testing, and analytics to inform designs, gather sharable insights, and unearth opportunities to improve the customer experience.
