Job Description

Are you a degreed Buyer looking to boost your knowledge by adding a sophisticated component to your resume that will provide advancement in your career?

The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain team is seeking experienced, motivated Buyers to support the next generation of industry-leading and complex systems within our Structures Team. Are you up for the challenge?

You will execute breakthrough purchasing and sourcing technologies into vehicles and experiences that people love

Actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing, negotiations, global, regional material budget execution, and interface with the leading suppliers and stakeholders.

Additional Job Description

As a Buyer at General Motors, you will be a part of a team that exceeds expectations in the overall customer service experience.

* Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc.)
* Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
* Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills
* Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
* High level of analytical ability where problems can be somewhat complex
* Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
* Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
* SAP
* MRP Systems
* A minimum of 3 years relevant purchasing or supply chain experience

This role requires an experienced or non-experienced buyer to drive a multi-functional team including collaboration.

Preferred Critical Skills are but not limited to:

* Automotive industry experience
* Knowledge of procurement software
* Knowledge of materials management
* Capable of interpreting market data
* Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
* Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
* Ability to work globally, independently, and self-directed
* Ability to travel at least 5% of time, including international travel

Candidates must demonstrate the following required competencies:

Required Experiences:

* Developing Contracts / Agreements 1-4 Years
* Project Execution 1-4 Years

* Ability to deal optimally with ambiguity and forward-thinking environment

Required Education:

* Bachelors Degree is required
* Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other related areas
