Design Program Manager, Team Operations

Within the Customer Experience (CX) org, Design Operations exists to help consistently deliver high-quality design at scale, streamline our processes, orchestrate communication and ceremonies, develop our practices, drive professional development, and serves as a catalyst for how we achieve our vision of a design-led culture across the entire organization. We strive to improve the quality of work by allowing designers, researchers, content strategists, UX engineers, and others to do what they do best, design great experiences. Design Program Managers (DPMs) play a critical role in helping cross-functional teams strategize, define, track and deliver work across Expedias vast portfolio. DPMs are collaborators, problem solvers, and dot connectors. In this role, you have a direct impact on the user experience by establishing and facilitating design best practices, design process and design thinking.

What youll do:

* Collaborate with design, product, and engineering to solve complex travel problems

* Apply frameworks and engagement models that enable teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences, at scale

* Be the go-to, point of contact for tracking and reporting on project status and priorities, blockers, and dependencies

* Lead work planning activities including capacity and resource allocation

* A strong advocate for your design team and the space needed for them to perform their craft

* Drive innovative solutions to resolve blockers in timely manner to support design and business operations

* Establish appropriate metrics for reporting

* Contribute to a growing Design Operations practice at Expedia

* Document and share standard methodologies, frameworks, and tools across teams

* Ensure progress towards goals is clearly and consistently communicated by the team

* Partner with design, product, research, and engineering leads

* Lead and improve our agile practices and how workflows through the team

* Communicate progress of design projects throughout the product orgproviding visibility and predictability of design work across the organization

* Advocate for design team health and identify potential burn-out for designers and managers

Who you are:

* Experience in Program Management, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, or related field

* Experience leading project delivery for large, multi-functional design teams

* Have validated frameworks and approaches for coordinating and delivering work in complex environments.

* An organized, effective communicator

* Comfortable leading and moderating meetings and workshops

* A desire for understanding customer needs and providing great user experiences
