You Will Be Responsible For:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Serves as resource for all patients placed within the hospital. (Teamwork)
* Maintains a professional, collaborative and congenial rapport with internal and external contacts. (Integrity)
* Makes all patient placement decisions in accordance with diagnosis, appropriate unit criterion, acuity and location. (Excellence)
* Initiates, promotes and/or participates in interdisciplinary collaboration regarding patient placement. (Teamwork)
* Identifies needs and operational opportunities to improve patients access and bed turnaround. (Excellence)
* Supports and promotes excellence in customer/guest relations. (Compassion)

* Serves as a single point of contact for all patients placed within the hospital. (Excellence)
* Maintains communication with referring physicians and transferring hospitals regarding anticipated bed availability or access delays. (Excellence)
* Evaluates all available Cardiac beds and develops contingency bed management plans with charge staff to ensure daily operations are not interrupted. Reports any interruptions of operational flow to director. (Excellence)
* Responsible for patient placement operations within the Hospital. Ensures that patients are admitted or transferred between units in a timely manner in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care requirements. (Stewardship)
* Continuously re-evaluates patient placement requests and adjusts staffing and bed management plans accordingly. (Stewardship)
* Demonstrates commitment to professional and personal growth. For example, completes all mandatory educational requirements, maintains unit-based certification, attends 75% of unit staff meetings, and participates in clinical ladder.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Must be knowledgeable about medical terminology, levels of care, treatment modalities, and the health care delivery system with demonstrated ability to abstract medical information and interpret patient records.
* Must possess knowledge in medical health services provided by AdventHealthTampa.
* Requires good interpersonal skills with ability to relate well with administration, physicians, patients, and other hospital employees.
* Skills in the use of personal computer and related software systems and applications.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
BLS/CPR
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Nurse Tech License or equivalent
Minimum two years of clinical experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
* Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Certificate.
* Previous experience in a patient placement or transfer center
* Previous clinical experience in a critical care area.
Job Summary:
The (Logistics) Patient Placement Coordinator is a professional technician (EMT or Paramedic) who has the responsibility to plan, prioritize, organize, direct and control all admissions and transfers between nursing units and hospitals for AdventHealth Tampa. Acts as a liaison between referring hospitals, physician offices, and nursing departments on issues pertaining to the placement of all patients. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
