This is a diverse, hands-on role covering a range of responsibilities for on-site accounting, as well as operations support, cost accounting, and FP&A

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Perform and support month-end closing activities (multiple trial balances).
* Conduct variance and performance analyses. Ensure timely and accurate reports to internal management and corporate office.
* Develop and maintain product cost Standards.
* Deep understanding of Manufacturing cost variances. Ensure bill of material and standard costs accurately reflect production operations and analyze and understand material and manufacturing variances generated.
* Monitor and control inventory. Ensure accuracy of inventory balances, lead cycle-count activities and annual physical inventory process. Drive improvements in E&O management.
* Perform regular walkthroughs of the plant with business leaders to discuss production and costing issues. Further develop production metrics and reporting to support performance evaluation and improvements.
* Develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts at the department and company level.
* Support Operations departments with actual spending analysis. Achieve budget objectives by monitoring and controlling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
* Manage Fixed Assets and Capital spending plan. Manage capital appropriation request process (CAR) and review and prepare requests based on ROI.
* Provide oversight and guidance to current integration of acquired business.
* Coordinate processes and roles and responsibilities of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Fixed Assets, General Ledger and other Shared Services support with Corporate Controller staff.
* Assist with the implementation of SOX, establish and/or improve policies and procedures and internal controls.
* Perform trending, variance and ad hoc financial analyses as required. Assist in special projects as necessary.
* Promote teamwork culture within the accounting and finance function, cross-functionally and with shared services.
* Motivate, mentor and manage cost accountant.

Qualifications

* Must have excellent analytical skills and deep understanding of accounting principles, including Standard cost and Manufacturing Variance reporting principles.
* Expert level Excel skills as well as proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
* Must have ERP experience; JDE Enterprise One a plus
* Experience with Hyperion Financial Management is preferred, but not required.
* Need to have the ability to work cross functionally with other departments and accounting Shared Services structure.
* Self-starter. Able to perform job duties with minimum supervision.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. A minimum of 7 years experience in a manufacturing plant environment with cost accounting responsibilities; aerospace or engineered products industry preferred.
