Job Description

Job Purpose:

* Lead the development, management and revenue delivery of the new Product offering with a focus on client satisfaction and business growth across all Prudential Emerging Markets
* Develop and implement product strategy to service existing target market clients, acquire new clients, and build a well-defined value proposition appropriate for customer segments.
* Ensure risk is identified, controlled and managed for products in an increasingly volatile market with enhanced regulatory governance, capital requirements and changing client needs.

Job Background/context:

* Prudential International Insurance (PII) Emerging Markets (EM) includes operations in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Its primary goal is to drive accelerated profitable growth.
* EMs caters to the protection insurance and retirement needs of middle class and affluent customers and offers products and services across Life insurance, Retirement and A&H products.
* Primary channels include face to face (captive, agency), bancassurance, affinity, digital and group.
* As part of the EM accelerated growth strategy, Product Development has been identified as a core capability whose main role is to support local operations introducing innovative and differentiated value propositions addressing customer needs.

Key Responsibilities: Product Strategy, Proposition and Development:

* Lead the design and implementation of the product development framework aimed to accelerate speed to market and product competitive differentiation
* In coordination with local operations, evaluate and develop new insurance product ideas based on market opportunity, customer segment and distribution channel needs. Support the local operation to build the business case, execution roadmap, setup processes, seek relevant approvals and launch the product for the relevant segment.
* Develop and execute Insurance product strategy for the local business - ensure product governance, proposition, development and management of the products is in line with business strategy, client needs, and segment value proposition requirements.
* Identify and implement best strategies and suitable products across markets that the business operates. Ensure periodic client surveys, insights, market trends and competitive monitoring is done, and proposition is built on it.
* Lead and coordinate innovation initiatives (e.g. Proof of concepts, Minimum Viable Products, hackathons, etc) that can lead to new product design ideas incubation
* Distribution Engagement: Support the channels teams in their product needs for clients, conduct and organize product trainings, drive advisory sales, and work with the local country leadership teams to ensure solid value propositions. Seek client feedback through Sales for product development. Drive product sales by identifying opportunities at country portfolio level. Ensure proper selection and development of products in line with PII policies, Market and client needs.
* Understand and track key financial drivers. Support local operations to deliver insurance sales and revenues in line with plan - monitor performance vs. plan, identify gaps / opportunities and make recommendations as to how to close these gaps across markets. This includes monitoring product pricing, deviations and product yields. Develop pricing and deviation metrics in line with market standards and competition.
* Product Governance and Control: Coordinate with a variety of partners, both internally and externally, to ensure prompt delivery of product while complying with strict compliance and legal requirements. Ensures that the product and proposition are designed and continue to perform within the framework of Legal and Regulatory requirements and there is a strong product governance process to ensure that this continues through the entire lifecycle of the product. Ensure Issues are detected quickly, Corrective action plan development and monitored for closure.
* Work with the different stakeholders like Regional team, Risk and Control functions, Finance, Marketing, Operations and Technology teams to develop and sustain an effective product development proposition.

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

* Significant experience in product management, product engineering, in Life and A&H Insurance industry with demonstrated success defining, launching and managing excellent differentiated products.
* Experience with latest product development methodologies (e.g. agile methodology, integration of traditional product development with tech, digital, and data capabilities)

* Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
* Excellent presentations, communication and networking skills.
* Superior analytical skills and systems knowledge to recommend/offer the best value-added possible solutions to clients/markets.
* People management/development skills
* Business/ Organizational Knowledge - ability to communicate effective with internal stakeholder and external entities.
* Client focus instinctive approach to matching client wants with business proposition
* Delivering results Strong organization skills, disciplined, detail-oriented methodology and a commercial acumen, results focused combined strongly with ability to prioritize around value and managing execution using functional expertise.
* Strong decision-making skills using a high level of judgment to arrive at clear decision
* Ability to work well under pressure demonstrating flexibility and the ability to tolerate ambiguity in a fast moving multi-tasking environment.
* Project management experience
