This position is one of newly created positions in the Actuarial Enterprise Capabilities organization, specifically on the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Team reporting to a Director, Actuary.
The EA Team is responsible for leading the actuarial organizations data and modeling architecture strategy initiative. The team enables the portfolio of systems to support current and future business capabilities within the domestic lines of Prudential businesses.
Actuarial of the Future is a talent initiative to promote a higher standard for tech-literacy across the organization. It supplements our existing upskilling strategies with more targeted actuarial-focused training plans and curated learning pathways.
Actuarial Technology Coaches are on the front lines of these strategic initiatives, embedding themselves in small teams across Actuarial, to play the part of technology spirit guide, the local expert, or the one you can ask for help with VBA/SQL/Python/Git/etc. In addition to being an on-demand tech educator, the coach contributes to our portfolio of capabilities by creating common actuarial code libraries, learning materials, and curates our standard actuarial toolkit.
Key responsibilities
* Curate contents of standard actuarial toolkit and technology atlas, a collection of technology learning resources to help actuaries find optimal technology-purpose fit
* Create reusable actuarial-focused training materials such as demos, quizzes, FAQs, and installation guides
* Construct targeted technology learning pathways:
* Practical automation skills that translate to process efficiencies
* Identifying technology needs
* Research and test emerging technology and communicate potential applications to actuarial community
* Review and manage actuarial proof-of-concepts and other strategic modeling projects
* Develop and maintain a strong knowledge base of current and future actuarial modeling technologies, such as VBA, SQL, Python, Git, Power BI, and vendor actuarial platforms
* Contribute to and promote the use of common actuarial code libraries
Job Requirements
* Natural and contagious curiosity balanced with tinkerer mindset to transform ideas into practical and useful applications
* Passion for discovering and sharing knowledge
* Proficiency in data science tools including SQL, Python, common Python libraries (pandas, numpy, matplotlib, pytorch, etc.), Git, and data visualization
* Ability to explain and illustrate complex technical concepts crisply and effectively to audiences of different skill levels
* Experience building typical financial modelling components such as data ETL, cash flow projections, and results analytics dashboards a plus
* Knowledge of vendor Actuarial modeling platforms (Moodys Axis, PolySystems, Prophet) a plus
* Knowledge of Life Insurance and Annuity products a plus
