The VP of Ethics & Conflicts of Interest is a new position in Prudential Financial. The position will report to the Corporate Ethics Officer for Prudential Financial. The VP of Ethics & Conflicts of Interest will lead the organizations strategic priorities and global programs for both risks. The right candidate will serve as a global thought leader for the enterprise as both programs continue to enhance their global best practices and thought leadership for the firm. Priorities will include working with the PFI Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and the Corporate Ethics Officer to set the strategic vision for the organization in alignment with the broader Prudential enterprise strategy and Code of Conduct. The position will ensure alignment between our global Ethics and Conflict of Interest programs as well as implementation of both across our expanding global footprint. Develops and leads a team of three in the oversight and maintenance of the global Code of Conduct, execution of the Ethics and Conflict of Interest programs, oversees global ethics investigations and conflicts reviews as well as associated data analytics, and provides guidance and direction to both the Business Ethics Officers and Chief Compliance Officers who are administering the programs in each business.
Responsibilities:
Driving thought leadership on high-priority ethical and conflicts issues and opportunities in alignment with evolving business needs and regulatory requirements, and partner with senior leadership team to ensure strategic change initiatives are understood and successfully implemented into business-as-usual activities
Overseeing, managing, and communicating a code of conduct that establishes global standards expected of Prudential employees and those with whom we do business.
Overseeing the periodic review and update the Companys Code of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to employees.
Overseeing the maintenance of confidential processes for the handling of complaints and employee allegations of inappropriate ethical conduct as well as related reporting, including of financial reporting errors.
Oversee complex and nuanced global ethical investigations across jurisdictions, cultures, languages, and companies.
Developing consistent messages regarding ethical priorities and devising overall communication strategies for all employees, from line employees to senior most business leaders globally.
Developing and reinforcing the message of ethical priority through processes, such as disciplinary panels and recordkeeping, conflict of interest surveys, and annual code of conduct certifications.
Preparing and delivering reports on global ethics and conflicts of interest including to the board and senior management.
Recommending training and program enhancements based on global changes in laws, regulations, and developing trends in ethics and conflicts of interest.
Develop and implement, in partnership with Corporate HR for delivery, an annual global training program addressing global trends and industry issues in business ethics and conflicts of interest and clarifying and reinforcing expectations of ethical conduct for individuals and the organization.
Collaborating with colleagues across multiple functions and countries to deliver exceptional results.
Working with the Corporate Ethics Officer and your team to define the strategic vision for the organization and develop the strategy and implementation programs to execute that vision
Overseeing enterprise-wide policy initiatives and implementation standards to ensure alignment and efficiency of business processes
Analyzing emerging regulatory developments and risks, data trends in complaints, investigations, reported conflicts, and other data points to guide and enable the strategic, proactive response of the business and preparing reports and other materials providing insights and recommendations for senior leadership and a variety of constituents at all levels of the Company to ensure that they are kept informed.
To meet these objectives, the incumbent will be required to analyze and synthesize internal and external reports and other complex materials; draft and revise materials for senior-level audiences, often under tight time constraints; serving as a key advisor on the strategic direction of the Ethics and Conflicts of Interest programs; and operate at both the strategic and tactical levels.
The candidate will possess superb skills in the areas of oral and written communication, preparation of clear and succinct reports and other materials, analysis of compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards, and the implementation of Compliance programs.
The candidate will serve as a key advisor on complex ethical and conflict issues facing the enterprise globally and must be able to operate at both the strategic and tactical levels.
The candidate will represent Prudential in front of regulators, globally, and must bring experience with international regulators as well as a thoughtful and risk-based regulatory mindset to their interactions.
Qualifications:
Compliance, Risk Management, or Ethics background with at least 7-10 years experience at global Financial Services firm with at least 5 years supporting a global environment. Investigative background a plus.
Excellent judgement and utmost integrity and objectivity, with demonstrated commitment to upholding high standards, sound judgment, confidentiality, confidence, agility and strong collaborative skills.
Proven leader who can influence executive leadership across complex financial institutions, including businesses and control functions
Experience leading matrixed and high performing teams through challenging change management initiatives and execution of complex, global initiatives
Thought partner and strategist with excellent influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across complex businesses, functions, and all levels of personnel, while conveying a sense of trust and confidence.
Demonstrated ability to define strategy, spearhead transformational initiatives, and execute within amorphous environments
Quantitative analytical skills ability to interpret and present data and drive innovation through insights.
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with an ability to make complex issues understandable.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and regimes
Experience with global regulators and interacting with senior levels of management, including Board level committees
Bachelor's degree, advanced degree or certification in relevant or related field.
