Job Summary
The Benefits Manager is responsible for the evaluation and development of benefits programs or existing benefit programs to maintain a competitive position in the marketplace while containing overall program costs.
Responsibilities
* Works closely with vendors and brokers to coordinate benefit administration and ensure services and programming are competitive cost effective.
* Ensures that benefit plans are in compliant with applicable requirements and regulations, including annual reporting requirements (annual non-discrimination testing, 5500s and Affordable Care Act (ACA)).
* Monitors administrative costs of benefit programs and recommends cost containment strategies including alternate structures and methods for administration and funding.
* Keeps abreast of competitive trends in employee benefits, pending regulations and potential impact to benefit programs.
* Analyze data trends and metrics to assess or anticipate business risks and develops recommended solutions, programs, and applicable policies.
* Maintains HR system to ensure eligibility and employee data is accurate for payroll deduction.
* Communicates benefit plan information and handles employee inquiries
* Develops strong collaborative relationships with cross functional teams
* Monitors day-to-day benefits activities (processes, reconciliations, Q&As employee benefits and deciphering health benefits statements, 401K etc.)
* Validates 401(k) contribution and loan reconciliation for each payroll cycle, SERP plan maintenance
* Act as HIPPA Privacy Officer
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field
* Minimum 10 years experience in benefits and understanding employee benefit programs
* Knowledge and understanding of regulations applicable to employee benefits programs
* Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills with a proven ability to communicate to peers and client groups.
* Advanced/Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
