Kendall Regional Medical Center is a 447-bed, full-service, acute hospital providing 24-hour comprehensive care in the community including trauma, burn, surgical, womens and childrens services, behavioral health and diagnostic services, along with two full service free-standing ER facilities, one in Doral and the other at The Palms Town & Country.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Ethics and Compliance Officer (ECO) contributes to the Company's mission and vision by implementing and maintaining the Corporate-wide compliance program. Responsibilities include:

* Provide guidance to Kendall Regional Medical Center regarding HCAs compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and other governmental requirements as appropriate
* Assist in the development of compliance related procedures and monitoring tools
* Assist in the resolution of major compliance related issues and/or compliance efforts
* Investigate compliance related concerns including, but not limited to, internal and external ethics cases, HIPAA/HITECH violations, controlled substance discrepancies, potential EMTALA violations, and ADA complaints
* Coordinate timely and accurate responses to Internal Audit, State and Federal regulatory agency assessment findings
* Coordinate and monitor compliance training requirements for employees (i.e. Code of Conduct orientation and refresher training, EMTALA, ADA, Physician Relationships)
* Communicate with other East Florida Division ECOs to ensure the awareness of emerging risks, new compliance initiatives, and policies
* Monitor physician contracts for hospital services to ensure compliance with Stark and Anti-kickback Statutes; review and approve physician requests for payment

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required, Masters degree preferred
* 3+ years of recent experience in an acute healthcare environment is required; relevant background includes regulatory compliance, coding, billing, internal audit and/or financial management
* Understanding of health care billing operations, including laws and regulations by various federal, state and local agencies is required
* Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, planning skills, and problem solving skills
* Must have ability to work with and through others to lead organization through difficult change management processes
* Must exhibit high levels of integrity, professionalism, trustworthiness, team orientation, and self-motivation
