The HR Assistant for the Buffalo site is responsible for leading HR administrative processes and general support to plant operations. In addition, this individual will provide process support for internal staffing and movements, support external staffing initiatives, oversee leave programs, and provide oversight of new employee onboarding and orientation processes. This position requires considerable interaction and collaboration with plant leadership, production team members, external candidates, and HR Shared Services. This position also works closely with corporate benefits and compensation teams, leave and disability partners. This role will require high learning agility and change leadership skills and will be a critical partner in the future state of the HR function for the plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead with safety
* Support and partner with HR team on external hiring processes for production team members, including recruiting efforts, job postings, assessments, interview preparation, offers and contingencies, and candidate tracking through iCIMS platform.
* Administer and lead FMLA, Disability and Leaves of Absence cases in partnership with the General Mills Disability Service Center; serve as a local subject matter expert for leave and disability processes.
* Partner and support local programs including (but not limited to) payroll, attendance administration, rewards and recognition initiatives, special events.
* Support local Workday HR processes and initiatives.
* Support annual HR processes including Affirmative Action Plans, Benefits Open Enrollment, Data Validation, Engagement Survey administration, and other initiatives.
* Provide day-to-day HR assistance to all plant team members, including researching and resolving questions or issues.
* Provide support for HR process improvements.
* Lead and manage various tactical and administrative HR processes for the plant.
* Support other duties, plant and function initiatives as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* High School Diploma
* Well-developed communication skills, including verbal, written, and PC-based, and demonstrated ability to communicate internally and externally at all levels across disciplines.
* Highly motivated and self-starter with strong attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills.
* Ownership and responsibility for tasks and priorities; demonstrates high level of performance.
* Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and proactive in building relationships.
* Ability to think critically and analytically.
* Demonstrated high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and credibility.
* Willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing job expectations and requirements.

* Strong computer skills and system proficiency: Workday, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point applications, reporting skills, and Workbrain or other payroll software knowledge

* Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of tact and diplomacy
* Strong written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's Degree in any major strongly preferred; specifically in HR Management, Industrial Relations, or related field preferred
* 2-5 years of HR, compensation, or related work experience preferred.
* Previous HR experience in manufacturing setting not required but highly preferred
