The Manufacturing Technician performs all the job functions in the manufacturing area which includes handling of materials, operating equipment, completing system transactions, wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment and following all area and plant procedures.
THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The manufacturing technicians are expected to plan his/her daily activities in an efficient manner following the production requirements and schedules communicated.
Must be available to work on rotating schedules, weekends and holidays as needed to meet production needs.
Relocation is not available for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties may be assigned according to area needs or changes in processes:
In all production areas, the following must be performed:
* Comply with all area safety, environmental, health, and security procedures.
* Handle material and weigh with precision all the materials specified on batch sheet and complete the transactions in the systems (i.e. ACSIS and SAP) to maintain inventory accuracy. This includes additions of feedbacks and formulations where applicable
* Conducts inventory movement or phase confirmation transactions as required by the area.
* Documentation and labeling: all batch sheets and process documents must be accurately filled out and all containers must be properly labelled as per area procedures.
* Housekeeping - Maintain work areas clean and organized at all times while performing tasks and operating equipment as per established procedures.
* Conduct Inspections to safety equipment, respirators, air packs, fire extinguishers, emergency light, safety showers, eye wash stations and others necessary to ensure safe operation of the area.
* Form part of the Emergency Response Brigade as needed.
* Conduct Cycle Counts as required.
* Ensure the proper disposal of waste and maintain the waste satellite areas as per required procedures.
* Understand and perform area Spill Control Procedures and how to activate emergency alarms.
* Ensure that all weighing scales are calibrated as per area procedures.
* Maintenance: Assist skilled maintenance personnel when required. Prepare equipment/area for maintenance (i.e. decontamination, breaking lines, and others as needed by the area or task to be performed)
* Warehouse Operations - The operator should be able to drive a lift truck and do all the warehouse operations such as: material flow, identifications, inventory, paperwork, computer terminal interface, etc. if needed.
* Safety- Know possible adverse chemical reactions- Use adequate protective equipment when handling powders and chemicals. Know how to handle all raw materials in the area, their hazards, and their raw material number and chemical names. Use the MSDS manual. Follow instructions on the batch sheets and area procedures.
* Follow all critical safety procedures such as lock, tag, and try, confined space entry, breaking into pipelines and others as required by the area or tasks to be performed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

* High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent
* Experience in chemical industry is a plus.
* Able to operate manufacturing machinery as per operation instructions in a very efficient manner.
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for day to day work.
* Able to organize time to meet the objectives of the shift
* Able to quickly adapt to changes
* Basic Mechanic skills are a plus
* Read and understand English
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
* Ability to compute rate, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and sit.
* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
* Depending on the tasks, the employee may be required to push and pull containers in carts.

* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
* Some tasks such as the calcining processes in the intermediates area expose employees to high temperatures.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are in most respects normal manufacturing conditions. Physical exertion is required. All safety rules must be followed and rules for special equipment will be posted. Good ergonomic practices should be followed.
