Job Description

Facebook Reality Labs AR Camera Software team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge camera software solutions that serve as the foundation of current and future AR products. We work at the intersection of AI and camera. The team is responsible for rapidly building and iterating on the most-innovative and life-changing camera products. This is a 0->1 opportunity, and you will be building something completely new. Our goal is to leverage Computational Photography and Computer Vision to develop camera algorithms to power new camera driven features, formats and experiences that power a variety of use cases across Facebook apps and products. The ideal candidate has proven design and build skills, in depth understanding of camera algorithm and software development, hands-on experience working in Operating Systems to deliver camera solutions, and experience with shipping hardware/software products.

Software Engineer, Camera Algorithms, Facebook Reality Labs Responsibilities

* Develop and optimize cutting-edge image processing algorithms based on the research and exploration of industry and academic solutions.

* Design, code, review, and tests camera related software algorithm features across all layers of the camera stack.

* Build custom solutions tailored to our specific AR computing platform, with implementations on GPU, DSP or Neural Cores.

* Work closely with System Engineering Team, Hardware team, manufacturing partners and QA teams to deliver best in class products.

* Ensure security of the camera system, protecting our users' privacy.

Minimum Qualifications

* Experience in Image Processing and Computational Photography, including but not limited to low-light capture, HDR, Depth estimation, video stabilization, denoising, demosaicing, and new camera formats.

* Experience working on the camera stack on iOS, Android or other mobile platforms.

* Experience in software development with C/C++ or Java.

* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience developing Android Camera HAL implementations with experience in Camera HAL3.

* Experience related to: auto exposure and auto white balance algorithms, software control of Image Signal Processors, image sensor drivers, and MIPI/CSI protocol.

* Experience with graphics development: OpenGL, Metal, Vulcan.

* Understanding of deep learning based methods for Computational Photography.

* Experience working on camera hardware, including sensors, lens, DSP, computer vision processing units.

* Experience with Halide programming language for high performance image processing.

* Experience architecting and designing performant, highly optimized software for low-powered hardware in the domain of image and video processing.
