The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Purpose and Scope
* Responsible for health, availability and security of plant manufacturing systems
* Leads IT projects:
* Collects, reviews and validates business requirements
* Establishes timelines and identifies critical path activities
* Works with external vendors as needed
* Performs software development as needed
* Creates and executes change management plans
* Ensures documentation is created/updated
* Develop and test solutions that meet business needs and align with Corning technology standards based on a supplied design.
* Act as a liaison between the business and IT to ensure that detailed specifications for new or changed system functionality are clearly communicated and understood
* Responds to customer requests
* Provides various communications to the plant community
* Acts as a mentor and provides training to junior IT workers
* Educates and trains plant users of IT systems
* Participates on Six Sigma project teams
* Acts in the best interest of Corporate, Division and Plant IT
* Other duties as required
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as subject matter expert for an applicable programming language or technology, providing technical assistance and operational support
* Interact with customer to gather and define requirements from both a business and systems perspective by interpreting business needs and translating them to technical requirements and specifications to meet the need
* Review and respond to documented issues related to a project (through a service desk ticket or other written documentation) and define requirements to address the issue
* Implement components (e.g. program, specifications, order, build, etc.) for complex IT solutions for new business demands and maintenance of business
* Develop and test technical solutions with guidance from superiors
* Assist with implementation of new solutions or upgrades to existing solutions including communications, documentation and training
* Produce complete, accurate, and useful technical documents
* Resolve technical issues experienced by customers and within the IT function in a timely and efficient manner

Travel Requirements: Occasional domestic travel will be required
Hours of work/Work schedule: Exempt Salaried Employees are typically expected to work between 40 and 50 hours per week, or as many hours as are required to perform the job well
Education/Experience Minimum Required
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
* 3- 5 years of relevant experience as an IT Analyst
