VP R&D PI Vascular
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Boston Scientific as the VP of Research & Development responsible for the arterial and venous franchises in the Peripheral Interventions division.
* Primary responsibilities include directing all aspects of R&D:
* Developing the R&D strategy with other functional partners
* Driving NPD Excellence: timely development of new products with high quality and performance
* Assessing New Business Development opportunities externally, acquire and drive R&D integration
Your responsibilities include:
* Overall Functional Leader for the PI Group R&D functions and Venous and Arterial franchises in the achievement of R&D organizational goals.
* Develops strategies and projects for the investigation, design, and implementation of new or improved products and/or applications.
* Identify external technology and intellectual property critical to future business growth.
* Create an entrepreneurial, action-based culture with a passion for winning.
* Acts as a leader across the matrix of NPD and PI business functions. Experience leading and driving across functions.
* Find and create future leadersconstantly recruits & develops talent.
* Collaboratively determines short and long-term product strategies and technologies.
* Encourage problem-solving efficiently leading to solutions.
* Ensure sharing of initiatives/ideas and accomplishments across the divisions.
* Empowers teams and fosters a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
* Proactively review future technologies and plan needed resources.
* Develop and ensure budgets and schedules meet business needs/objectives.
* Champion new programs or refocuses existing initiatives based on knowledge of unmet clinical needs of customers and develops proposals for new projects.
* Act as entry point and contact for external entities approaching BSC for partnership.
* Support Business Development (M&A strategy) including: target recommendations, strategic rationale, financial case and integration planning.
* Support Strategic Planning process to include competitive analysis, market sizing and growth rates, evaluation and recommendation of business strategies and tactics.
* Develop effective and persuasive presentations for Executive Leadership engagements
Requirements:
* BS degree in Engineering or applicable with advanced degree preferred
* Experience leading a large R&D team for complex business(es)
* 12 or more years of technical medical device product development experience
* 8 or more years people management experience
* Good understanding of patent/IP/competitive legal and market issues
