The IT Cloud FinOps Department has an opening for an IT Cloud Optimization & Governance Analyst. This position is located in Pleasanton, California.

Position Purpose

Albertsons is migrating to the cloud and is looking for a Cloud Optimization and Governance Analyst to help us transform our organization, help speed delivery of our product, and efficiently apply our resources to the cloud. We are adopting FinOps principles which are a combination of systems, best practices, and culture designed to increase our company's ability to understand cloud costs and manage tradeoffs.

As a founding member of the team you will help us build the knowledge, team and policies that will help our team understand and control our costs in the cloud. The role will be embedded within the Cloud and IT Operations team and partner directly with IT Finance and our Product and Application Development organizations.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Closely partner with DevOps and Engineering team to understand their business processes and costs drivers.
* Implement the Cloud cost management program, including a tagging framework, cloud workload governance, cost showbacks, and budget management.
* Partner with Business Intelligence (BI) to assess and deliver reporting and analytic needs of internal stakeholders.
* Act as a liaison between the Cloud Operations and IT Finance teams, providing guidance on cloud KPIs and best practice recommendations for an optimized cloud cost structure.
* Manage the relationship between Albertsons and their cloud providers to provide transparency into cloud usage and costs.
* Partner with Strategic Sourcing and Finance to negotiate cloud contracts.
* Build and improve forecasts and explore trends in cloud spend using Turbonomic and other cloud cost management tools.
* Provide DevOps and Engineering stakeholders the tools to develop and measure cost related insights, metrics, and KPIs related to help them better understand their products and how to build them more efficiently.
* Deliver cloud optimization and governance training to drive accountability to Application and Product owners relating to cloud spend and help owners understand how to take action against opportunities within the dashboards.

Qualifications:

* 3 years minimum relevant experience managing public cloud costs and demonstrated working knowledge of public cloud contract and costs.
* Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, Cognitive Science) or other quantitative field. Finance experience a plus with technical experience at the forefront
* Understanding of ServiceNow, Turbonomic, and PowerBI platforms is a plus.
* Excellent written and strong verbal/interpersonal communication skills. Able to lead discussions with engineering, finance, and procurement teams and guide on cloud management best practices.
* Conducts business with an urgent mindset. Delivers prompt responses with limited follow-up on outstanding deliverables.
* Superior customer service mindset and a commitment to teamwork
* Able to conduct and interpret quantitative or qualitative analyses and deliver recommendations.
* Continuous improvement attitude -- able to seek out and implement leading cloud cost management practices.
* Independent in work ethic and thought process, seeking supervision or direction as needed.

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho.
