Position Purpose
Albertson's Companies is re-imagining the grocery experience through a digital and customer experience transformation. The Director of Product Management for Discovery & Planning will be responsible for defining and executing on all aspects of the product management for discovery and planning areas from strategy and inception to delivery to drive digital solutions. This person will build and lead the product management organization for top-funnel customer shopping journey, including homepage, search, browse, planning (lists, voice shopping), my items (Favorites, Buy again), merchandising platform (CMS), store touchpoints (weekly ads) and site performance/SEO. S/he will be responsible for collecting and interpreting user research and data, conceiving innovative products, creating a robust product roadmap, and managing the product lifecycle. The right candidate will be a strategic and ambitious visionary with the proven ability to deliver products that create impact and deliver exceptional value to the end customer. This leader should be highly motivated to succeed, and empower his/her team to do so, in an approachable manner, that engenders trust and confidence at all levels across the organization.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Create a bold vision for our e-commerce experience, identifying opportunities that will allow our customers' experiences with us to be delightful and frictionless
* Be responsible for delivering experiences that drive conversion and customer engagement for customer-facing products, while driving efficiencies for internal teams
* Partner with the Data team to define measurable metrics of success
* Establish a culture of testing and learning within your team in continuously developing hypotheses, never taking the status quo as the way things need to be done
* Work with our Engineering and UX to establish agile processes, frameworks, and tools to improve velocity, quality, and ensure transparency
* Clearly articulate and communicate the vision, roadmap, key decisions, and relevant learnings up and out to all levels and departments of the company, offering company-wide insight into what is being worked on
* Build and develop an innovative and customer-obsessed digital product team by recruiting top talent and designing the team's organizational structure to foster a strong product culture
Qualifications:
* Experience building and launching complex platforms at scale and providing product direction to meet customer needs
* Think the big picture but not afraid to also roll up sleeves to solve what's right in front of them
* Embody the Agile philosophy, always iterating and improving on the process and not just adhering to the ceremony
* Highly analytical skills with the ability to translate between strategic business decisions and their quantitative implication
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, engineering, business, or related. MBA preferred
* 8-12 years' experience in product management, management consulting or technology
* 4-5 years' experience managing direct reports in high- tech company
* Internet and retail experience strongly preferred
* Strong analytical, prioritization and negotiating skills
* Usability and customer-focused design experience a plus
* Passionate about building great products and solving customer and business problems

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
