Job Description:

The Squad Leader will be responsible to drive the development and delivery of our internal applications.
The Squad Leader will serve as a highly visible point of contact with management leadership and collaborate with business stakeholders to create scalable software solutions.

The Squad Leader of Applications Development will coach and facilitate cross functional squads to deliver end-to end technology solutions that result in improved value for our business, in close alignment with our strategy.

Focused on transforming the way we work, this role gives the day-to-day responsibility to mentor and lead energized teams towards achieving great outcomes and maturing their capabilities.

The leader will ensure that the squads are equipped with the appropriate skills, knowledge and resources they need to successfully deliver business outcomes.

A guardian for agile ways of working, this leader will support squads to improve productivity through creativity, innovation, collaboration and decision making.

The Squad Leader is responsible for leading a team of developers, analyst and contractors (on-shore and off-shore), in the execution of production support, enhancement and custom development efforts across a defined set of WFS applications assigned to his/her team.

Typical tasks and work products include:

* Setting the overall vision to direct and inform the squads work.

* Manage overall development cycle utilizing Scrum and Agile methodology

* Work closely with the developers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach

* Coordinate closely with Tribe Leader to stay aligned on business goals and make sure the squad is progressing and delivering against them.

* Work closely with Product Owners to prioritize the work of the squad through a well-organized backlog of user stories and clearly communicating what needs to be done and by when

* Focus is on the constant improvement of quality, speed and ensuring the team learns and gets better each sprint.

* Provide team leadership towards the completion of development activities on-schedule within budget and per quality expectations

* Oversee activity of staff to ensure that production problems are resolved quickly, ensuring continued accurate system operations. At the team level, meet service level agreements for production support response and resolution.

* Conduct and coordinate personnel-related activities such as identification of resource needs; evaluation, selection, development and retention of staff, incl. mentoring and discipline.

* Participate in the definition and the delivery of the strategic and tactical goals of the Application Development group

Requirements

* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or other related engineering degree.

* Experience in leading teams, coaching and mentoring cross-functional AGILE teams.

* Minimum 10 years of experience in shipping a web-based product and going through a full software development cycle.

* Database and Java Development Background (SQL, J2EE, Spring, JavaScript) Minimum 5 years.

* 5 years as a development leader in custom application development.

* Minimum 4 years of experience in Scrum and Agile Methodologies.

* Minimum 2 years of experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and automated testing.

* Experience with Cloud computing (AWS) and No SQL databases (Cassandra) is a big plus.

* Experienced leading in a DevSecOps Environment.

* Understanding of key AGILE concepts and/or experience with leading or operating in an AGILE environment.

* Experience in leading teams through change.

* Demonstrated ability to grow talent and leverage teams effectively for optimal success.

* Proven track record of strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
