The Sr Project Manager is part of the commercial organization supporting the Biosciences Division portfolio which includes reagents, instruments, and consumables from across the division2019s six business units: Molecular Biology; Protein and Cell Analysis; Antibodies and Immunoassays; Synthetic Biology; Sample Preparation; and Cell Biology. This role will reside in Carlsbad, CA. However, it will be global in scope.

How will you make an impact?
The Project Manager (PM) of BID, Business Transformation Office will support the divisional leadership team to ensure that each initiative is well designed & implemented. The PM will provide end to end project management leadership (concept to completion), while fully owning the mechanisms which ensure successful project delivery. The successful PM is expected to provide strategic thought leadership to project workstream leaders, stakeholders, & executive sponsors while demonstrating a keen eye for the tactical elements of projects. The PM is required to drive projects that span multiple businesses within Thermo Fisher Scientific. The role supports large-scale enterprise wide projects that requires innovative solutioning to addressing business challenges & achieving organizational goals & objectives.

What will you do?

* Serve as a thought partner to the divisional leadership team & help to translate leadership visions into defined objectives & executable plans by fleshing out key ideas, assumptions & projections; ultimately building out the entire vision (resource allocation, work plans, timelines, & financial outcomes) for leadership input/approval
* Own end to end success of project, ensuring accountability, execution timelines & continuous change management to deliver on-time, qualitative results
* Function as a liaison/thought partner between the BID Leadership Team & various project work stream leaders to ensure business needs have been met & delivered on schedule. Address conflicts/ issues, escalating as necessary, to overcome obstacles
* Identify key issues & risks, recommend options which are supported by a clear fact set & analysis, build business cases to support revenue &/or cost synergies programs, cost-to-achieve/budget, etc., facilitate & negotiate individual & team decisions
* Influence all levels of stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization, heavily weighted at VP level & above.
* Delivers &/or leads presentations for steering committees & executive staff

How will you get here?
Education/ Experience

* BA or BS in Life Sciences required; PhD & MBA preferred
* Minimum 10+ years2019 experience leading organizational level projects with 7+ years in a lead role; successful completion of complex, cross functional project/program development & delivery
* PPI/Lean/Six Sigma Certification a major plus
* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word
* Inspirational leadership style & strong relationship building mindset is a must
* Ability to see the big-picture & execute at the grass root level is a must-have skillset
* Solution-orientated mindset complemented with a calm voice of reason is a must
* Ability to view candid feedback as a gift is a mindset that is necessary to be successful & grow in this role
* Lead project status & cross-functional alignment reviews while monitoring interdependencies through appropriate operating mechanisms
* Facilitates the creation of project plans & timelines, operating mechanisms, dashboards & financial scorecards for each initiative to keep executive leaders current on progress & potential red flags
* Must be able to quickly grasp complex data points, see linkages that span across various areas & synthesize a coherent picture to drive discussions that enhance the outcome of the project
* Must be able to lead multiple projects simultaneously & seamlessly navigate competing demands with zero impact to deliverables
* Must have strong financial acumen to help manage project KPI2019s
* Must have effective oral & written communication & executive presentation skills and fluent in English
* Oversees & provides direction to multi-disciplinary project teams, regarding lean, six sigma, program management, & change management as necessary
* Demonstrated organization, analytical, critical thinking, & creative problem-solving skills
* Demonstrated can do attitude is a given; needs to be able to manage multiple initiatives at the same time
* Proven track record in managing crisis, escalations, process breakdowns, & personnel challenges
* Demonstrated ability to work in a large, fast-paced organization
* Demonstrated ability to manage & influence strong leadership personalities while maintaining strong professional bonds
* Demonstrated credibility with executive leadership
* Ability to interface with all functions within the organization, managing outside consultants, & in-depth know-how of organizational network is a key attribute
