PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for providing Human Resources guidance to employees on company guidelines, employee relations, compliance issues, onboarding, performance management, and learning and development needs. The HR Generalist will seek out opportunities to increase employee engagement and satisfaction, and will lead, collaborate and/or assist on multiple project initiatives aligned with Simons business strategies, objectives and growth initiatives.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidates responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Support assigned client groups with general HR programs including learning and development, employment law compliance, compensation and benefits administration, talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, workforce planning and performance management.
* Ensure successful implementation of HR policies, procedures, and practices.
* Advise and provide assistance to supervisors and managers in assigned clients groups on identifying, evaluating, and resolving basic and complex employee relations issues. Ensure consistent treatment of employees and provides coaching to managers on the corrective action process
* Work closely with HR Director to understand business issues and opportunities and assist them in developing and implementing HR initiatives to address those opportunities.
* Implement and support HR operating standards for the business (i.e. Succession planning, on-boarding, overall talent management processes, etc.).
* Assist HR Director and leadership teams in improving organizational effectiveness by analyzing department structures and evaluating options; assess employee climate, morale and effectiveness and developing action steps for improvement.
* Positively communicate and demonstrate Simons Core Values by developing trust and respect among peers and staff; build strong teams and partnerships and driving results.
* Participate in the development, maintenance and analysis of HR metrics.
* Partner with assigned clients groups and talent management professionals in the acquisition and development of talent to ensure business needs are met.
* Enhance employee and management performance by identifying and addressing learning & development needs.
* Execute compensation programs based on corporate guidelines; participates in job evaluations and pay decisions as required.
* Ability to lead special projects to a successful completion.
* Maintain open communications with employees and management. Counsel management on effective management and coaching techniques.
* Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources federal and state requirements.
* Conduct new hire orientation on a rotational basis.
* Conduct candidate interviews for various positions on occasion.
* Act as primary liaison for client group employees and other HR functions in order to provide a high level of service.
* Conduct exit interviews and analyze separation trends.
* Provide guidance on all related HR Systems to ensure proper usage.
* Partner with and assist HR Director and assigned client groups in the execution of workforce structural changes.
* Conduct administrative steps using HRIS systems as required.
* Support Learning and Development with executive level and high potential training programs and other initiatives.
* Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* A Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
* 3 to 5 years of progressive responsibility and experience in Human Resources in a large multi-unit or multi-site company. Retail HR experience a plus.
* HR experience with an emphasis in Employee Relations, as well as a comprehensive experience in all facets of the Human Resources discipline.
* Foundational knowledge of HRIS systems (i.e. Workday) a plus.
* Ability to work in both structured and unstructured/ambiguous environments.
* Able to work cross functionally up and down the organization with proven ability to build relationships, establish trust and credibility.
* Must have strong project management skills with the ability to organize, set priorities and meet deadlines.
* Strong problem solving skills; ability to think strategically and critically in developing solutions to complex problems.
* Can work both independently and in a team, on multiple projects in a demanding, deadline driven environment.
* Candidate will have unquestionable reputation for discretion, business and personal integrity, judgment, responsiveness, strong attention to detail, common sense and confidential information.
* Solid PC skills with proficiency in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Some travel required.
* Ability to work additional hours as needed.
