Our location in Abbott Park, IL currently has an opportunity for a Senior Procurement Specialist, Mobile Equipment.
Job Description: Responsible for executing against the purchasing and supply management strategies created by the Category Managers. Responsible for developing and executing the fleet management strategy in the Americas, including other procurement activities for mobile equipment and leases. Work intimately with customers, divisions and the Category managers driving the "One Abbott Procurement" model. Provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. The Sr. Specialist, Mobile equipment has delegated authority to commit company funds. This position will work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility and specifications in the procurement of goods and services while contributing cost savings, partnerships with suppliers and other value-added activities to support customer needs and expectations.
* Proactively seek and lead innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels
* Considered an SME across categories. Strong understanding of "One Procurement" category strategies and work on projects that impact the "One Procurement" team.
* Is recognized as an expert within own area. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Act as a lead, coordinating work but may not be a supervisor.
Core Responsibilities:
* Serve as the Global Procurement Mobile Equipment champion. Liaise with corporate functions to implement strategies and drive change
* Measure and report metrics and assess process effectiveness. Manage tenders, perform cost analysis and benchmark suppliers
* Seek, develop and establish business relationships with selected suppliers. Meet regularly with divisional customers and lead functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for efficiencies
* Manage fleet expenditures reviews and reporting. Review and periodically update the vehicle policy of the Affiliate
* Lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives
* Solve complex problems, take a broad perspective to identify solutions
* Educate on existing solutions and enable performance and tech tools development
Strategic Thinking:
* Communicate and design messages to increase awareness and engagement, convey policies and best practices related to mobile equipment, fleet management and leases. Serve as liaison to internal stakeholders and conduct benchmarking studies

Builds a culture of change management with One Procurement and Division. Promote engagement and demonstrate value of Abbotts Fleet Management Program.
* Leverage professional expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results. Lead the development of functional strategy
* Understands the overall needs of multiple business units and to negotiate an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category
Relationship Management:
* Partner with business leaders and closely collaborate with adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services
* Build and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors and ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and good customer service
* Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance and to provide overall value
* Support category projects across business unit and divisions when and where applicable
Leading People:
* Responsible for leading and mentoring Associate Specialist and Specialist procurement personnel. Provides guidance and training to Specialist.
* Understand and apply cultural awareness with foreign business entities
* Drive and grow strong effective business relationships with suppliers, clients and customers.
Compliance:
* Responsible to drive compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
Accountability:
* Executes against the goals set by the Category Leads /Managers/Directors
* Drive innovative ways to maintain and improve procurement processes, cycle times, total acquisition costs, and customer service levels.
Staff Size:
* May have supervisory responsibilities for non-exempts
Minimum Education:
* Bachelors Degree: Engineering, Science, Business, or Financial Degrees.
* CPM certification desired
Minimum Experience/Training Required:
* BA or equivalent experience required: MBA preferred. Successful, 5+ year track record within fleet procurement and supply chain management
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Effective public speaker preferred
* Demonstrate strong influential power and execution abilities; attention to detail is a must
* Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification desirable
* Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification desirable
* Strong project management skills
* Robust people skills that include developing strong relationships and solving problems
* Strong use of spreadsheet programs
* Excellent interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
* Ability to develop actionable implementation plans
* Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management
* Good negotiating skills
* Experience leading and influencing teams
