Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) Operations Engineering (OpsEng) provides premier engineering and manufacturing support expertise to enable on-time, lowest cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations. OpsEng executes across all phases of a Program including proposal capture, process development, transition to production, and production support.
Operations Engineering's engagement with RMD products is not just limited to RMD manufacturing sites. We support our large supplier network and international builds with deployment of engineers. These engineers help to resolve supplier issues before they come into RMD factories; as well as helping to integrate Major End Items (MEIs) at domestic and international sites.
Position Overview:
The Automation Systems Engineering department uses advanced technology, robotics and digital platform development to improve Raytheons ability to deliver quality products, on time, at or below cost. During their tenure, the candidate will work closely with the Operations Engineering Section Managers in the ASE department to identify project opportunities that align with their desired academic and professional goals as well as to identify networking opportunities for professional development and to enhance their understanding of Raytheon in an ever-evolving manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
* Work with team leadership to identify growth opportunities, which can be aligned with desired professional and academic outcomes in areas such as process automation, robotics, machine communication interfaces, python and data visualization.
* Set measurable project goals for their scheduled time on the team to be reviewed on a weekly basis.
* Work under the guidance of team engineers and leadership to develop the required knowledge to be successful in the execution of their development and project plan.
* Gain experience and knowledge in process automation, systems integration as well as IIOT platform development (Ignition). Leveraging this exposure to better identify opportunities for professional and academic growth.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Computer Science, Engineering, or other STEM related training
* Some exposure and/or experience in robotics, automation or control systems
* Some exposure and/or experience in machine languages or development platforms (Python, C#, JAVA, LabView, MATLAB)
* Methodical problem solving skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Skills:
* Experience/Education with machine connectivity and interfaces
* Robotics, control systems, automation
* Experience/Education with programming principals and languages
* Python, C#, Java, LabView, MATLAB
* Six Sigma Certification
* 3.0 cumulative GPA
This position can be a Salary Grade ST02, ST03, ST04 or Salary Grade ST05 based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
* ST02 (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must have completed 30 hours of college
* ST03 (Junior Technical Intern) - must have completed 60 hours of college
* ST04 (Senior Technical Intern) - must have completed 90 hours of college
* ST05 (Post Grad Technical Intern) - must have completed 90 hours of college
