Description

The primary purpose of the VCO Crude LP Modeler is to assist the Value Chain Optimization, Commercial Trading and regional refinery organizations by optimizing refinery crude supply and maximizing full value chain earnings for the region including supporting trading opportunities.

The refinery LP model will be the primary tool to provide crude values that will be used in the crude purchasing decisions for the refineries within the assigned region. The position will evaluate the economics of crudes for the refineries including Relative Crude Values (RCVs) and Break-Even Values (BEVs).

The LP Modeler will perform ad hoc studies at the request of the Optimization Director or applicable Trader. The LP Modeler will be accountable for making sure the LP model is aligned with the current model of each refinery and reflects the current operational constraints established by each refinery.

The LP Modeler will be accountable for key two-way communication:

1. Providing technical knowledge of refinery economic drivers, constraints and operations to the Commercial organization.

2. Providing market knowledge to the refineries relevant to crude selection and optimization.

Responsibilities May Include

* Developing and publishing the monthly RCV Report consistent with the refining business guidelines and utilizing the tools provided from the Optimization Engine.

* Performing ad hoc crude evaluations for the Optimization Director or Traders.

* Performing LP analyses for incremental rate economics.

* Performing LP analyses for new crude opportunities.

* Assisting with crude quality monitoring and assay updates.

* Evaluating regional opportunities to optimize cargos between regions.

* Evaluating opportunities to swap or re-optimize purchased cargos as market conditions allow.

* Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with both the refinery-based Planning and Economics teams.

* Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the Crude Optimization Director, applicable Traders, and Value Chain Optimization team.

* Providing regional competitor market intelligence to the Commercial Trading organization; this may include using additional tools HCOMETS and PRISM.

* Providing economic back casting to tie actual refinery earnings to forecasted earnings.

Position Requirements

Basic/Required:

* Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering

* 3 or more years of experience in the fields of refinery economics, operations, process engineering or fuels blending/scheduling

* 2 or more years of direct experience working with LP modeling

* 1 or more years of experience with AspenTech PIMS Program

* Strong understanding of downstream value chain business drivers

* Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

* Must possess a valid driver's license

* Periodic travel is required to visit regional sites

Preferred:

* Previous crude/products scheduling experience (Refinery or Commercial)

* Previous refinery crude selection/optimization experience (RCV analysis)

* Experience with scheduling/blending models (Orion/APS)

* Skills and proficiency with HCAMS/HCOMET, PI/PHD

* Visual Basic programming experience (user level)

* Able to set direction and lead: strong networking and team building skills

* Willing and able to positively influence others

* Strong and effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

* Ability to remain in job 2 4 years

* Strong analytical/data management skills

* Able to quickly develop and maintain internal and external respect and trust

The M&S segment purchases for resale and markets refined petroleum products consisting of gasolines, distillates, and aviation fuels primarily in the United States and Europe. It also manufactures and sells specialty products, such as petroleum coke products, waxes, solvents, and polypropylene. In addition, this segment generates electricity and provides merchant power into the Texas market. Phillips 66 was founded in 1875 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
