Performs standard and advanced functions including research, document review, data analysis, investigating and maintaining docket due dates to support the Trademark Managers and Business Partners in the maintenance of the companys global trademark portfolio. Applies knowledge of the department policies and procedures and utilizes a general understanding of other departments functions.
What You Will Do:
* Manages both US and International trademark prosecution, enforcement and maintenance matters.
* Manages numerous critical deadlines in connection with some of the Winerys most valuable assets.
* Analyzes trademark search reports from various countries, determines how to successfully secure trademark protection and provides summaries and recommendations to supervisor.
* Coordinates and instructs counsel regarding trademark prosecution and enforcement matters worldwide.
* Analyzes, prepares and compiles important data and files appropriate applications and other maintenance documents with the US and International Trademark Offices.
* Obtains legalizations for various documents.
* Analyzes office actions issued from various Trademark Offices and works with supervisor to determine how to overcome the objection so that our trademark application will proceed to registration.
* Files extensions of time, tracks opposition deadlines, and keeps Trademark Attorney and Trademark Manager up-to-date on due dates and the status of matters. Offers solutions or recommendations for problem marks and applications.
* Participates with outside counsel and supervisor in creating arguments to defend our applications when oppositions are received by third parties.
* Communicates with Business Partners, outside counsel, and international trademark agents regarding trademark prosecution matters.
* Coordinates with counsel regarding trademark renewals worldwide.
* Conducts in-depth research, analyzes information and provides summaries to the Trademark Attorney and Trademark Manager.
* Analyzes and compiles evidence for use in trademark litigation matters.
* Performs data entry and dockets critical due dates in the trademark database.
* Monitors docket on a daily basis and manages all due dates and timelines.
* Researches and investigates third party use of trademarks for potential infringement.
* Analyzes investigation reports, summarizes information and provides summaries to Trademark Attorney and Trademark Manager.
* Provides recommendations for new ways to improve filing systems and procedures in order to increase efficiency.
* Creates and maintains desk manual.
* Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
* Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.
What You Will Need:
* Bachelors degree; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of legal or business office support experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
* Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook at an intermediate level.
* Required to use discretion when dealing with confidential information.
* Extremely detail orientated, focus on data entry accuracy.
What Will Set You Apart:
* Bachelors degree plus 1 year of legal experience.
* Trademark experience.
* Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Experience writing routine reports and correspondence. Experience speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
* Experience calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Experience applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
* Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Experience dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Computer skill requirements include: intermediate MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access.
* Knows the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.
* Perform routine work by following detailed instruction that requires little evaluation, originality or ingenuity.
