Requisition Summary

In this role General Accounting Manager will oversee Kenworth Division general accounting activities including Production and MRO Accounts Payable and personnel to provide accurate financial information and related analysis to ensure financial reporting integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Manage the day-to-day and month-end activities of the Division General Accounting team and Production and MRO Accounts Payable teams to ensure the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements.
* Train, develop and retain a well-qualified staff of 9 (3 direct reports and 6 indirect) through recruitment, coaching and development activities.
* Coordinate monthly close process for all Kenworth entities including monitoring monthly deliverables such as management reports, uploads of local GL data into the consolidation system, Capital Budget Status Summaries, Balance Sheets, Fixed Asset roll forward and other preclose reconciliations.
* Review various general accounting and AP journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and perform account analysis.
* Direct the preparation of timely, accurate and meaningful retro/surcharge and tooling factor forecasts and subsequent reviews against actuals.
* Drive the use of data analytic tools to monitor key metrics and identify cost reduction opportunities.
* Analyze retro/surcharge reserves and other account balances to ensure they are regularly reviewed and properly stated.
* Responsible for the review and/or preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting statements/schedules related to Kenworth Division accounting activities including supporting internal and external auditors.
* Support cross-functional business needs working as a business partner with Corporate, Other Truck Divisions to improve processes such as Accounts Payable.
* Assist and/or direct assigned Division internal control reviews including Sarbanes-Oxley documentation/testing and Internal Control Assessment Program reviews including identifying potential risks and opportunities.
* Special projects as assigned, including periodic truck division comparisons, technical accounting research related to new accounting standards, system related projects and ad hoc reporting requests.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
* 7+ years of relevant accounting experience, including supervisory and increasing responsibility
* CPA / MBA strongly preferred
* Solid understanding of US GAAP
* Strong computer skills in Excel (i.e. pivot tables, macros, charts and graphs), Access (i.e. query building, report writing, etc.) and data analytic tools (i.e. Tableau etc.)
* Ability to communicate complex accounting issues at an executive level
* Strong organizational skills, including ability to manage multiple projects from beginning to end
* Deadline-driven, self-motivated and customer service oriented
* Strong leadership and supervisory skills, emphasizing continuous improvement
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
