Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under general direction from Engineering Drafting Manager, builds product baseline solid models and drawings from details through final assembly for form, fit, function, completeness, and accuracy.

Perform as a checking project guide. Support other checkers to develop their skills and knowledge to perform as a CADD Mechanical Design Drafter

WORKING PROCEDURES:

In addition to performing the duties of W17033 CADD Mechanical Design Drafter (job code W17033), perform the following:

1. Have working knowledge and understanding of CADD database system (example: Intralink, TeamCenter).
2. Have working knowledge and understanding of Master Model Concept within Model Based Engineering.
3. Use and maintain logs of all work in a collaborative environment.
4. Coordinate and collaborate in the interpretation of drawing standards working with engineers, checker, and management.
5. Coordinate and collaborate drawing with engineers and/or manager.
6. Coordinate with CADD Admins and/or CM in the release of product
7. Check own work for accuracy and completeness.
8. Perform all work in a high quality and timely manner.

Drawing and model creation:

1. Validates drawings and model meet contractual and/or company requirements.
2. Must have working knowledge and understanding of Drawing and Drafting Standards: ASME Y14.100, GD amp;T ANSI/ASME Y14.5M, Mil Specs, Company Drafting Standard Manual, Company Solid Modeling Standards, and all other specs within the defense industry (including but not limited to welding, casting, forging, machining, sheet metal, and materials).

Model Creation and validation:

1. Verifies that solid models are in compliance with CADD Software Model Based Engineering Company Standards including and not limited to the following:
1. Model construction techniques that utilize CADD Software feature driven solutions.
2. Model structure matching Product Structure within System of Record
3. Validating all data not meeting Model Based Engineering Company Standards is removed
4. Validating all product data definition is in sync with released data set defined before release to System of Record including any database relationship in use at the time of release.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS:

Provides guidance and assistance to lower classified checking, drafting, and technical personnel; as required to follow current company standards and/or toolsets.

DIRECTION RECEIVED:

Receives assignments from Engineering Design Drafting Manager and receives minimal technical guidance from engineering. Work is carried to completion entirely on initiative of employee. All work is subject to normal engineering review and approval.

This is a Union Represented role.

Qualification

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. AA degree in drafting from a college or advanced technical training in CADD Software or its equivalent in experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must have 2 years rsquo; experience minimum as a W17033 CADD Mechanical Design Drafter (job code W17033) plus 2 years relevant experience/education as a W17033 CADD Mechanical Design Drafter.

Must be able to perform the following:

1. Proficient in use of CADD software to validate solid models and drawings that meet company standards; including ability to analyze and review data set files for validation to company standards.
2. Must have working knowledge and understanding of Drawing/Drafting Standards: ASME Y14.100,
Mil Specs, Drafting Standard Manual, and Model Based Solid Modeling Practices.
3. Must have working knowledge and understanding of GD amp;T Standards in accordance with different releases of latest four ANSI/ASME Y14.5 versions as well as how to apply these standards to the various aspects of part fabrication processes.
4. Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of machine design and associated fabrication process such as but not limited to machining, casting, forging, welding, brazing, and sheet metal for validation to company standards; including physical and chemical properties of various metals as well as machine tools and material handling capabilities.
5. Must have a working knowledge and understanding of Engineering Change process and Configuration Management for the System of Record.
6. Must be able to multi-task and work independently.
7. Strong verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with all in engineering, manufacturing, and quality to collaborate, coordinate, and follow project activities to completion with a high degree of accuracy.
8. Must be able to work in a team environment and be an example of a team player.
9. PC/Microsoft Office proficiency.
10. May require a Secret government security clearance.
