This Portfolio Risk Manager role is located in Dulles, VA, supporting our National Security Space Systems programs that include technical roles at the mission, segment, and component levels. They span the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early operations, mission operations/sustainment, and system disposal. Programs range from small feasibility studies to medium-sized on-orbit technology demonstrations and large-scale national systems.

Successful candidates for this position will work in a senior technical role supporting development for a next generation ground system. The program is considered to be a center-of-excellence for ground software development that is developing innovative tools to aid operators with planning spacecraft maneuvers and supporting vehicle activities, as well as monitoring mission progress and safety.

The Portfolio Risk Manager is responsible for the definition, planning, organizing, directing and controlling risk and opportunity management efforts, which includes the following duties:

* Evaluating and approving risk and opportunity handling approaches
* Creating mitigation plans and approving opportunity exploitation plans
* Coordinating with suppliers, vendors, higher level managers, and external Customers on general risk and opportunity metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the risk and opportunity management process and procedures
* Assuring integration of the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) process with the risk and opportunity management process
* Informing and advising higher level management on critical project risks and mitigations
* Facilitating meetings and coordinating risks within a program
* Leading business development and proposal teams through Acquisition Key Decision Point milestones within the risk and opportunity management area.

The responsibilities include both individual-contributor and leadership roles within a multi-disciplined engineering team. In this role, the Portfolio Risk Manager is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to lead risk management efforts.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:

* Must have U.S. Citizenship and active or current Top Secret/ SCI level clearance
* Bachelor rsquo;s Degree in STEM or related discipline and 9 years of experience in systems engineering or risk management or Masters Degree and 7 years experience.
* Systems engineering experience
* General software experience
* Knowledge of and experience using Scaled Agile Framework for software development and/or management

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to lead risk management of complex space systems development, manufacture, test or operations.

* Experience with ground software systems
* Experience with a space development program
* Experience presenting to customers
* Experience working with a cross-discipline team
