Primary Objective:

Plans, develops, and manages automation projects from concept to completion.

Role Overview:

* Leads automation and control integration projects supporting new capital equipment and existing equipment upgrades, ensuring automation projects are fully executed on time and within budget.
* Executes projects in accordance with all applicable safety standards and regulations.
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of safety performance levels according to IEC standards, safety circuits safety PLCs / relays and the proper applications
* Provides subject matter expertise in the automation and process control.
* Ensures seamless hand-off to process, equipment and facility owners.
* Demonstrates strong trouble-shooting capabilities in automation systems.
* Updates and maintains engineering standards for projects.
* Effectively communicates with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

* Maintains current knowledge of latest manufacturing and control technologies, best practices and standards.
* Integrates knowledge of a variety of engineering disciplines to efficiently drive process improvements with local, regional and global impact across manufacturing technologies.
* Leads automation design reviews and supplier automation discussions.
* Recognizes and prevent safety concerns in projects early in the cycle to avoid potential risks.
* Effectively and efficiently executes automation projects for processes, equipment and facilities to maintain schedule, budget and scope of delivery. Provides on-time delivery of quality results from highly complex work processes for multiple sites with divisional or global impact.
* Efficiently and effectively executes, leads and guides automation projects to benefit the Mohawk business.
* Collaborates effectively with internal and external resources to plan projects and solve problems.
* Develops innovative solutions with significant influence on the business.
* Solicits input from stakeholders and ensures their needs are met.
* Provides logical and fact-based recommendations and options to drive consensus among key stakeholders in the decision-making process on matters with significant business impact such as capital expenditures for equipment, process and product improvements.
* Leads regular review meetings with stakeholders on projects.

Other Responsibilities and Competencies:

* Ability to foresee and identify project execution concerns early, identify and take action.
* Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical and software systems.
* Industrial controls design: Ability to read and create electrical prints.
* Strong PLC programming abilities using Structured text, ladder logic, function block diagrams, statement lists and Siemens Simatic. Ability to review and understand control systems developed by others.
* Strong knowledge of electrical & machine safety: NFPA: NEC; ISO 13849 (performance levels). Ability to design and maintain safety circuits including Safety PLC based systems.
* Capable of creating and maintaining plant and project documentation.
* Technical writing to create clear and organized documents: Request for proposals; Technical specifications; System manuals and instructions for technical staff
* Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience; training technical staff and providing appropriate reporting of projects. Positive interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive professional relationships to improve project execution and results.
* Ability to seek positive consensual solutions to issues and conflicts with all stakeholders.
* Strong 2D and 3D CAD drawing capabilities. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, E-Plan
* Design Human Machine Interfaces; Simatic Wincc
* Knowledge regarding Industrial networks: ethernet(ISO model) ; Industrial Bus systems
* Configuring and maintaining robotic arms: Kuka; ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa
