What does this role look like?

The Payload Launch Site Support Services (PLSSS) program has an immediate need for a Material Planner. PLSSS performs tasks such as General Support, Payload Operations, Payload Transportation, SV Propellant Loading Operations, Infrastructure Support, System Engineering, Security Services and Safety and Environmental for sponsored activities and programs.

As a member of the Material Planning team, you will perform the following duties for the PLSSS team:

Sources, purchases, plans, and schedules the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related material.
In front-end procurement mode, analyzes data and determines factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, approves payment, and maintains necessary records of material movement.
Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services.
Effectively coordinates /communicates on a daily basis with the engineering managers/requesters, co-workers, and the program office
Performs Planner duties in support of the Programs eastern and western sites
Attends customer meetings
Sources assigned Purchase Requests (PR)
Places and tracks Purchase card orders
Solicits budgetary quotes for programs
Ensures the unimpeded flow of material and services through the Acquisition, Integration, Production, and Delivery processes
Coordinates each step of the procurement process from cradle to grave
Thoroughly understands contract schedule and material requirements, and is abreast of internal/external policies and procedures
Contributes to material sales by expediting, receiving, & invoicing
Contributes to Affordability, and reduces costs through key initiatives such as Category Management and Supplier Collaboration & Development
Ensures 100% COMPLIANT procurements and mitigates risk to Lockheed Martin, through process excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

Must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 3-years of professional experience; or 1-year of professional experience with a related Master's Degree
Knowledge of procurement cycles and vendor quoting
Proficiency with MS Office products: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Strong time management skills
Strong task planning, management, and coordination skills
Proven exceptional strategic communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management, with an ability to persuade and motivate action.
Demonstrated Customer Services & Relations Attitude & Behaviors
Ability to multi-task
You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US TOP SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Direct experience with procurement cycles and vendor quoting
P2P experience
MAXIMO experience
Familiarity with SAP
Knowledge of material requirements planning background
Inventory, shipping, and receiving knowledge
Familiarity with Supply Chain concepts
Familiar with Unites States Government (USG) procurement processes and regulations: Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and USG audit and management agencies
Active TS/SCI Clearance
