Description

RIDGID Products has been established in Orange, VA since 1976. We are a growing company with approximately 165 employees. RIDGID Products manufactures professional hand tools and drain cleaning equipment under the brand names RIDGID.

We are seeking a dependable, quality oriented individual to fill the position of Cable Set-Up. Under general supervision by supervisor or group leader, or Plant Manager, this individual will set-up all jobs with an approved 1st article part per set-up sheets and blueprints. Will direct production personnel as necessary to achieve production requirements. Will maintain inspection of machines and procedures to insure they are operating safely, are kept clean, maintained and producing at the set production rate with acceptable quality. Will set an example for operators by following company rules and policies with regards to safety, break schedules, work rules, and discipline. Will assist the supervisor with applications of policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

a. Under minimal supervision set-up all conventional, CNC machines, winders and welding equipment in the coupling mfg. cell and cable mfg. areas. Instruct operators on proper job methods to ensure operator safety, quality and efficiency.

b. Will order raw material. monitor material requirements and delivery status, check in, unload,store and approve vendor shipment when necessary or as directed by supervisor or operations manager.

c. Organize, direct and effectively utilize production personnel and machines to meet the production and quality requirements.

d. Set-up and make necessary machine adjustments to produce an acceptable first article part. Perform quality checks using required measuring devices.

e. Train Set-Up Trainees and Set-Up Operators on proper set-up procedures for conventional and CNC equipment.

f. Will train on conventional and CNC machines, which may include in-house as well as any required outside training.

g. Participate in suggesting as well as implementing productivity improvements and actively participate in 5-S and LEAN activities.

h. Will be responsible for all aspects of assigned manufacturing cells.

i. Will train and instruct new employees in the proper operation of machines and equipment with respect to safety, quality, maintenance, keeping work areas clean, and production goals.

j. Will assist supervisor with operator training and compliance of company policies, rules, and safety regulations.

k. Will temporarily work other shifts as needed due to training or vacation requirements and act as department supervision in the absence of the supervisor. Also, when required, will fill in as group leader for other departments and shifts. Will also perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor deemed necessary to keep operations running effectively.
