Urick Ductile Solutions is a ductile iron foundry located in Erie, PA, producing a wide variety of high quality castings for various markets. We are pursuing improvements to our quality systems and process controls, with a goal of reducing variability in our casting quality and improving the serviceability to our customers. The Quality Manager will supervise our quality department to optimize all quality system aspects of our foundry processes. This include direct oversight of our ISO quality system.

Essential Functions:

* Promote a safe workplace for yourself and your fellow employees
* Directly oversees, sustains, and drives improvement of the ISO quality system. This includes development of proper training materials.
* Direct management of the Quality department employees.
* Direct interaction with customers regarding quality questions and concerns.
* Direct oversight of new product launches including coordination of activities with the customers, pattern shop, manufacturing, and outside processing. This includes direct support of PPAP activities and other customer quality requirements.
* Ensures proper quality system controls for any changes of processes, materials, and suppliers.
* Actively promotes cost reduction activities
* Supports manufacturing flow improvements with a goal of minimizing process waste and increasing throughput.
* Leader and participant of Perfect Execution initiates including lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S+1, etc. Training in Perfect Execution will be provided to the successful applicant.
* Close interaction and collaboration with manufacturing supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel to coordinate identified projects
* Direct reports include CMM Technician and Lab Technicians.

Requirements

* 4-year degree in a technical field, preferably in metallurgy or material sciences (or an equivalent combination of education and on-the-job experience)
* Minimum of 3 years experience in quality management, ideally in a foundry or metal-process setting (preferably with ductile iron materials)
* Strong ability to perform statistical analysis of processes, and then drive sustainable process improvements and controls
* Strong organization skills with proven abilities in project management
* Ability to direct, organize, and respect direct reports and peer employees in a team-oriented environment
* Possesses a genuine passion and enthusiasm for positive business and process changes with the goals of better servicing our customers and improving the welfare of our employees
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as other statistical analysis software tools. Past experience with ERP systems is preferable.
* In-depth knowledge of metallurgy and sand systems is a plus
