Position Description

Ally Invest is looking for a Director of Site Reliability Engineering to drive forward capabilities in monitoring, alerting, automation, countermeasures and ultimately resolution of issues in production environments. This person will lead a Team dedicated to architecting and implementing solutions that further bolster the reliability of Ally Invest -- includes solutions to extract, clean, and correlate data from disparate systems in order to automate operational procedures and empower solid decision making for future growth and requirements.

Job Responsibilities

* The ideal candidate should have a successful background of instantiating Site Reliability Engineering processes and leading a team dedicated to resiliency either in a Brokerage or other high stakes environment and highly regulated environment.
* Must have hands on experience learning, triaging (both proactive and reactive) and documenting application stacks, using and implementing monitoring tools (such as Splunk, App Dynamics, Elastic, Grafana, Nagios) and be mid-level proficient in at least one area such as Databases, Application Development (Java or .Net), Networking or Infrastructure.
* The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to pull data into a consumable fashion and clearly articulate what's going on to ALL levels of the organization both proactively and when production issues are ongoing.
* Participate in defect triage and work with project team/vendors to resolve prioritized defect fixes
* Consume and record data to inform decisions of where to scale, create efficiencies, and ultimately get ahead of any potential problems
* Develop and drive production support strategy to sustain business requirements
* Allocate and direct technical resources to accomplish support requests/tasks ensuring effective utilization
* Familiarity with monitoring on various online applications using solutions such as Splunk, App Dynamics, Nagios, etc. and ability to determine the right toolset to accomplish monitoring goals on net new application stacks
* Take manual workloads and automate in tools such as Rundeck or Control M
* Manage work with software vendors for code fixes and advise teams of Ally standard requirements, security standards, methodology and processes. Define and monitor SLAs and other performance metrics

Qualifications

* 3+ years in a site reliability engineering role or similar
* BS and 7+ years in a technical role or equivalent
* Analytical approach; strong problem solving and root cause identification skills
* Ability to work autonomously, solving complex problems in an ambiguous environment
* High integrity and aptitude for servant leadership are among the most important qualities we look for in a leader/manager
* Ability to work off-hours as required, including participating in on-call rotations
* Knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems -- mainly RHEL and Windows Server
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to supervise staff and make personnel decisions
* Ability to ensure all phases of support are managed effectively
