The Opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Lean Portfolio Management to join the Optimization & Portfolio Management Office to drive programs from incubation to launch. The OPMO is responsible for delivering scalable efficient processes, infrastructure & systems, analytics & insights that help our organization achieve its mission. The OPMO partners with business leaders to drive transformations that results in growing our business responsibly.
We are looking for a proven leader to help ensure successful delivery of valuable solutions while also building the delivery capability for scale. You will work in close partnership with cross-functional leaders to introduce and adapt best practices to improve governance and methodology. This individual must possess the ability to juggle multiple initiatives in various life-cycles with high intuition for business. We're looking for someone who has experience working with both rapidly scaling high-growth startups, as well as established larger companies. This role reports to our Optimization & Portfolio Management Executive.
The Work Itself
* Gain a deep understanding of how our organization collaborates on cross-functional initiatives and improve the operating model for the organization to scale
* Attract, develop and inspire a team of portfolio and program managers that business teams feel they can't live without
* Co-create the processes vital to conceptualize, define, intake, prioritize, execute, launch initiatives
* Be the catalyst for teams to continuously reflect and improve on how to work better together
* Help promote a culture focused on the flow of delivering value with speed and agility
* Introduce valuable processes but ensure that they do not become a hindrance to progress
* Work with business and product leaders to develop outcomes-based roadmaps that align with business objectives/priorities against the constraint of organizational capacity
* Help teams develop execution strategies to deliver the outcomes-based roadmap
* Take overall responsibility for planning, executing, tracking and managing cost, schedule, and scope for all initiatives in the portfolio
* Use strong technical and business acumen to manage risk and call out impediments through a defined process for faster decision making
* Help champion adoption of key engineering practices like Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, etc. to improve quality and reliability of the team's results
* Coach and mentor leaders and teams on Lean-Agile principles and practices
* Enable a learning organization through the introduction of meaningful measures and learn & adapt sessions
The Skills You Bring
* Bachelor's Degree in a related subject area
* 5+ years in a lean portfolio / program management leadership role as a Director or Senior Manager in an Agile operating model
* 10-15 years of project execution experience in a software product delivery organization
* Thorough understanding of various solution delivery lifecycles; ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment without being dogmatic. Expert knowledge of agile-aligned methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, Lean-Agile, etc.)
* Keen understanding and curiosity of financial services business models and its product development lifecycle (infrastructure, software, or data services)
* Process design and improvement while using Lean-Agile principles and methods
* Specialist skills with implementing and optimizing Agile portfolio management tools, JIRA-Align
* Experience using Agile performance metrics to drive learning and continuous improvement
* Proven experience communicating and building relationships with leaders across business, technology and product functions
* Ability to work well as a member of a highly integrated team composed of both technical and non-technical members across the company
* Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to collaboration
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation
* Comfortable bending between the tactical and strategic
