Coder Ancillary AdventHealth LOCATION: ADH TRICKEL BUILDING, Maitland, FL
Work Hours/Shift:
* Full Time
You Will Be Responsible For:
* Verifies that all physician orders received are appropriate and complete, ensuring age and gender edits are satisfied on all codes received from physician office. Ensures all edit issues and charge code discrepancies are resolved before billing.
* Assigns ICD9 diagnosis and procedure codes, CPT codes and modifiers as necessary to ensure accurate and complete coding as well as resolve any edits on account.
* Consults Local Medical Review policies and/or National Coverage policies to determine if diagnosis provided necessitates test orders, consulting physician when necessary.
* Interacts with registration staff and point of service departments to determine if Advanced Beneficiary Notice is required for the test being performed.
* Interacts with physician offices to procure prescriptions and diagnostic information including medical necessity.
Qualifications
What Will You Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Successful completion of a coding education program
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
* Outpatient Lab coding experience
Job Summary:
The Ancillary Coder is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and interpreting clinical documentation contained in the medical record applying appropriate ICD9 and CPT codes conventions and requirements of Medicare Prospective Payment System. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
