The primary responsibility of this Material Handler I position is to perform a variety of inventory-related tasks including receiving, moving, stocking, maintaining, issuing, and transacting inventory with the purpose of timely and accurate fulfillment of internal and external customer requirements. Has knowledge of standard inventory and material handling practices and procedures. Regular working hours: Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm.
This position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Essential Functions:
* Work SAFELY, including wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing certain duties and/or working in designated PPE required areas and use of proper tools
* Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area
* Communicate with purchasing, inventory specialist and production team members regarding hot shortages and inventory discrepancies
* Complete necessary forms, logs, tags, labels and related documentation that support manufacturing and/or quality systems
* Pick work orders, sales orders, and Kanban bins and distribute to designated areas
* Prioritize work to ensure manufacturing On Time Delivery
* Stock inventory, material or chemicals in designated locations, in a timely manner according the material handling requirements
* Accurately perform MRP inventory transactions
* Perform cycle count duties on an as needed basis
* Execution of Kanban, FIFO, material presentation and 5S
* Scanning of Kanban cards so or
* Serve as a backup for other materials functions including, but not limited to: shipping activities such as: staging, packing, and shipping sales orders
* Assist with Receiving on an as needed basis
* Provide hands-on job function training to coworkers as needed
* Work off-shift, as needed, to support department and meet deadlines
* Perform and understand processes related to non-conforming materials systems
* Perform location planning, warehouse housekeeping and inventory consolidation
* Complete daily reports, audits, and QDIP boards
* Participate in continuous improve projects, including Kaizens, related to material accuracy and flow
* Ability to follow Standard Work, and in some cases help develop standard work
Qualifications:
* High School diploma or equivalent required
* 2-5 years Material Handler experience, or similar experience preferred
* Experience working with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
* Must have a valid drivers license and a good motor vehicle driving record
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail for counting and transacting inventory, inspecting inventory and solving inventory problems
* Ability to work with frequent interruptions
* Knowledge of basic manufacturing and supply chain concepts (Kanban, etc.) is highly desirable
* Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, including an understanding of appropriate handling and storage requirements for materials typically found in such environments
* Ability to operate material handling equipment
* Ability to prioritize, follow through and handle a large variety of tasks at one time
* Ability to make good decisions independently and as part of a team
