Job Description


Manage Cloud, Virtual, and Linux server environment by providing application team support, installing software and updates, monitor server performance, managing and monitoring backups, managing server access, and building new servers when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provision new servers and virtual machines.
2. Install software and package updates.
3. Manage server configuration using configuration management system.
4. Create scripts to automate administration tasks or support installed applications.
5. Monitor server and system performance.
6. Troubleshoot server and application issues.
7. Provide support to application teams.
8. Manage server access.
9. Manage and monitor server backups and perform restores when needed.
10. Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
11. Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
12. Employing exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they snowball into problems.
13. Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.

Qualifications

1. 4 year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
2. 3 to 5 years of experience working as a Linux server administrator and Cloud Administrator
3. Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)
4. Experience working with AWS, VMWare, OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure.
5. Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
6. Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres.
1. Experience building and configuring servers.
2. Experience using configuration management systems.
