We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our High Throughput and In-Process Analytics team within the Biologics Analytical Research & Development (AR&D) organization of our Companys Research Laboratories in Kenilworth, New Jersey.
The highly motivated candidate will work within the automation group, tasked with identifying, developing and deploying automation and high throughput tools and techniques in support of the High-Throughput and In-Process Analytics team and broader Biologics AR&D organization. The candidate will work with analysts and their managers to understand the current workflows in order to identify which tasks would benefit from automation. Then, independently or as a project lead, work to develop and implement automated solutions for use by the broader department. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated and possess excellent communications skills in order to drive adoption of automated workflows and effectively communicate results through reports and presentations to key stakeholders and to the external scientific community. Experience working with automated benchtop or high throughput technologies is required and a working knowledge of Good Practices (GxP) as it relates to experimental execution and documentation is desired.
Education Minimum Requirements:
* A Ph.D. with 4 years of experience, a Masters degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or a Bachelors degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, engineering or other pharmaceutically related field.
Required Experience and Skills:
* Experience using benchtop or high-throughput automation platforms for parallel experimentation.
* Experience in analysis of biologics or other pharmaceutically relevant entities (e.g., Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Ion Exchange Chromatography (IEX) and Capillary Electrophoresis (CE), or other separation-based techniques.
* Demonstrated ability for taking initiative, creativity and innovation in problem-solving.
* A strong team player with excellent oral and written and communication skills with the ability to work independently to develop and design experiments, critically evaluate data, and then iterate as part of the scientific method.
* Strong ability to deliver complex objectives under aggressive timelines in a rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
* Programming of automated platforms and designing high-throughput workflows for parallel experimentation.
* Basic computer programming skills (Visual Basic, Python, etc.).
* Background in the development of new methods and sound scientific understanding of Quality by Design (QbD) and Design of Experiments (DOE) principles as well as data analysis and statistics.
* Working knowledge of Regulatory Good Practices (GxP) with regards to laboratory experimentation and documentation.
* Experience with performing gap analyses in order to identify problems, development solutions, and implement them in a laboratory environment.
