Person Memorial Hospital

Collects and processes human samples, such as blood and urine specimens, for testing in the laboratory, according to specimen collection and processing protocols. Serves as a resource for resolving phlebotomy related problems.

Reports to: Director of Laboratory and Respiratory Services

FLSA: Non-exempt

Grade: G06

Job Requirements

Minimum Education High School diploma or equivalent required.

Required Skills: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure appropriate and continual care for the patients of Person Memorial Hospital. Ability to perform routine venipuncture and skin puncture.

Licenses: PBT (ASCP or ASPT) or other clinical lab certification within six months of hire preferred.

Minimum Work Experience:Two (2) years of phlebotomy experience requiredPrior supervisory experience preferred.
