Spring View Hospital
The OR Technician assists other members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care during the intraoperative period. The major focus for the position is on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment and assisting the surgeon within the limits of their scope of practice during the surgical procedure. Applies knowledge of growth and development in patient and family interactions. Administers care and use of equipment applicable to the age and needs of the patient population served (neonate through geriatric).
Job Requirements
Graduateof a school of surgical technology is preferred; trained surgical tech; i.e.through a hospital program is required. Certificationdesirable, and prefer the individual has a goal and timeline for achievingCertification. CPR certification required. Prefer one year of operating room experience. Knowledge of specific procedures orspecialties. Must be capable ofprioritizing, planning and problem solving due to changing nature of the worksituation during surgical procedures. Ability to recognize the need for immediate response during urgent oremergency situations. Excellentprofessional communication skills in dealing with patients/families, medicalstaff, peers and ancillary staff. Requires great degree of accuracy. Responsibility for maintaining confidentiality of material andinformation. Must maintain and respectpatient/family privacy and confidentiality at all times. Knowledge of basic medical terminology, metricsystem, aseptic technique. Reasoning, math and language skills at the highschool plus technical training level.
