Life Safety Technician duties include:

* Serving as a first responder to campus medical events (must complete and maintain advanced medical response training (Emergency Medical Responder).

* Duties include significant physical exertion at times such as wearing SCBA, hazardous environment suits, under floor work, response in extreme weather conditions.

* Response to other campus emergencies (fire, spills, odors, etc.) including hazard assessment, Emergency Response Team activation (as necessary), cleanup, disposal, conducting postmortems and completing necessary post event reports/documentation.

* Serving as an expert resource for Life Safety Systems and Emergency response as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

* Sustaining support of Life Safety Systems (HPM/Gas Detection, Fire/EWSD, Liquid Leak detection).

* Performs tool commissioning and annual testing of Life Safety Systems.

* Performs annual testing. Performs routine troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance.

* Develops/maintains training and systems documentation/procedures.

* Capable of significant physical exertion, consistent with extended ERT response.

* Working in a team environment.

* Includes sharing their skills and experience through training and direction of other technicians.

* Includes conducting Emergency Response and Life Safety Systems training classes.

* Acting as a role model for safety protocol and safe work practices at all times.

Assignments are semi-routine in nature. Work performed within generally defined parameters.

Some degree of judgment required in resolving nonstandard problems. Normally receives general instructions on most work.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

* AA/AS degree (or equivalent) with 1-2 years related experience, or BS degree with related experience.

* 1-2 years ERT related experience including HazMat response, assessment, clean-up, response management, gas/chemical detection/assessment.

* Candidate must successfully pass initial and annual medical monitoring.

* Expected to complete, maintain, and utilize advanced medical response training (Emergency Medical Responder).
