At GDIT, our people are at the center of everything we do. As a Project Manager supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), you will be trusted to manage and a team of 12-15 working on creating an infrastructure to support a research data ecosystem. The system will support an analytic workspace using Cloud and HPC environments to support the key missions of NIAID and their researchers.. In this role, a typical day will include:
* Collaborating with NIAID to respond to emerging public health threats, while maintaining the capacity to quickly launch a research response to newly emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases
* Be a primary point of contact with the customers, interfacing with them and the GDIT team to provide meaningful scientifically useful versions of the data ecosystem
* Day to day management of a team of 12 - 15.
* Lead the creation of deliverables and track development cycles, working with team members to provide management expertise in HPC computing, software engineering, systems development and support
* Reporting on progress, risks, acting on them appropriately to provide deliverables to the client
* Enable team to create and support a FISMA Moderate secure system
* Your success will be measured through your successful interactions with all team members, and high communication with our NIAID clients to deliver a scientifically meaningful system.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
* Bachelor's Degree or higher. Bi ochemistry, Biology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics or similar are highly desired.
* 10 years of industry or a combination of industry and strong academic experience
* Experience in successfully managing teams of engineers and subject matter experts to enable Cloud Computing for biomedical research, building enterprise level research systems, providing high quality deliverables to clients in a timely manner.
* Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
* Previous HPC experience is highly desired.
* Public Trust clearance must be able to be obtained
* Preferred Experience interacting with biomedical researchers, software development using microservices, experience coding in Python and/or Java, NoSQL databases, cloud computing, Kubernetes
