The Role

Our team focuses on building the scalable and intelligent Lumen Edge Compute platform that is deployed deep into our network with a 5ms target for network latency from our customers to these compute resources. We build the tools which manage the network connectivity and large pools of servers, virtual machines, and container environments that help our customers manage their business needs. This includes all the automation and intelligence used to deploy network, servers, VMs, as well as the resiliency and ability to move services with changing load or failure. This platform is enabled on the Global Lumen network and provides our customers the ability to quickly connect the Lumen Edge Compute to their data centers as well as other cloud providers.

As a Lead Cloud Engineer you will lead the ideas, design and development of cutting edge cloud products and components in support of our Lumen Edge Compute products and services to enable our customers. In this role you must be ready to engage in building a global platform at large scale that can be operated

The Main Responsibilities

* Drive technical long term strategy for the Lumen Edge Compute platform in alignment with our business needs.
* Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software that enables the Lumen Edge Compute platform.
* Develop, document and communicate these solutions such that they can be operated at scale by our 24x7x365 operations teams.
* Work with other technology experts in the company driving cross-team collaboration to simplify and the system capabilities.

What We Look For in a Candidate

* Bachelors Degree with 7+ years of experience building large scale data center compute technologies
* Cloud based architecture development and design experience
* Knowledge across all compute Operating systems
* Experience and technical knowledge of compute hardware
* Ability to incorporate in-house developed software, open-source and commercial software to create an overall technical solution
* 5+ years' experience with design and deployment of VMWare and RedHat OpenStack
* Experience in utilizing, designing or operating compute resources on a global IP network.
