The Impact Youll Make in this Role
As a 3M HIS Clinical Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
* Assuming the primary responsibility of Clinical Analyst in providing subject matter expertise in the clinical content development, specification, documentation, validation and application of software modules related to APR-DRGs as well responsibility of maintaining the specifications of the map and any related mapping for variables required for the methodology.
* Align the discipline of inpatient patient classification, inpatient payment, and inpatient quality and mortality outcome measures, demonstrating the underlying clinical concepts to various state/federal agencies, hospitals and/or organizations.
* Contributing and coordinating with the research efforts related to the methodologies, provide input into the prioritization of the potential research enhancements.
* Work directly with the Chief Product Owner, Product Owners and Research team to drive enhancements to the methodologies by translating the clinical hypotheses into clinical logic content specifications using existing coding systems; documenting and maintaining clear clinical specifications.
* Work directly and collaborate with the technical, quality and clinical team members, integrating product concepts to implement and test the clinical specification.
* Responsible for publication of articles, counterchange of discussion with respect to inpatient risk stratification and in-hospital mortality outcome performance measure.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
* Bachelors Degree or higher from (completed and verified prior to start) an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of eleven (11) years of experience in Healthcare in lieu of the Bachelors degree education requirement
* Five (5) years experience in the healthcare/clinical setting
* Two (2) years of HIM credentials or Clinical Informatics background as it relates to research, analysis, disease processes and treatment, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
* Two (2) years working with clinical-coding and or patient classification/quality outcome measures
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
* Master's degree in related field, to Informatics, coding, and/or HIM credentials.
* Strong knowledge of APR DRG patient classification system research and development: as it relates to:
* Inpatient payment and risk adjustment,
* Efficiency and mortality outcome measures;
* Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid environments
* Experience with healthcare data, coding, billing, editing and payment, particularly for inpatient claims and HIPAA requirements
* Ability to evaluate research question, define analysis, analyze results and statistical output and patterns, document hypotheses and recommendations
* Ability to effectively communicate ideas, concepts and information: presenting and training of clinical concepts, coding systems and underlying design of patient classification methodologies in healthcare
Location: Remote
Travel: May include up to 15% domestic/international.
