Associate Director, Product Design

Make investing intuitive through the user experience

In this role you will lead a team of product designers in building incredible user experience for the Vanguards public site and help tell Vanguard story and offers in a way that is simple, accessible and delightful. Were looking for a design leader who has both manager and leader quality to methodically evolve design experience to the next level and also inspire dynamic ideas that connect with all types of audiences.

In this role you will

* Hire, evaluate, and supervise crews. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Set performance standards, reviews performance, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

* Help establish quality standard. Work closely with the Head of UX and Design to make sure of the integrity and quality of design solutions. Join the leadership to modernize individual investors online experience from "minimal lovable" to mature, best-in-class product experiences.

* Be a proud manager of your team. Help the team sharpen their craft of product design. Encourage the teach and learn culture where people can share new techniques, tools, and best design practices in the market. Genuinely invest in people development and create a sense of strong UX community and pride within and outside the larger in-house agency.

* Work side-by-side with your peers including managers or leaders in UX Strategy, Product Management, MarTech, and Strategic Design. Develop and maintain deep sense of connection through having shared priorities and identifying opportunities for improvements to projects, people, and process.

* Expertly presents design solutions to senior management, project teams, partners, and stakeholders. Ensure the success of the strategy and the ability to champion the best possible user experience.

* Develop and leverage a professional network across the enterprise and foster collaboration to support department-wide initiatives and to improve the ability of the department in resolving issues.

* Partner with IT teams and help improve the hand-off and visual/design QA process to ensure adherence to defined design and behaviors.

* Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What it takes

* Minimum eight years related work experience in an agency or in-house agency environment

* Minimum three years of hands-on UX and product design leadership and coaching.

* Has first-hand experience in developing and evolving enterprise-level product design system.

* Hands-on experience and drive in leading and facilitating both organized and scrappy work sessions to frame and solve problems with the team.
