The Tech Lead owns the architectural decisions for the team. The TL is an executor and the visionary force behind the technical solution. The TL values simplicity and is unafraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve an Agile design. The TL works closely with all team members to create a modular, scalable solution that addresses/incorporates future architectural changes and designs. The TL will drive the teams engineering practices in test driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment. The TL is a hands-on team member who actively coaches the team to solve complex problems and joins the team in their development efforts.

Vanguard is looking for an experienced Technical Lead to work with our International Product Services full stacked development team to build an exciting new product data layer while supporting legacy applications. The Tech Lead will work with AWS, Angular, Java/JavaScript, and more to build out a new mid-tier, a new literature program and more to our international regions websites. Responsibilities as a Technical Lead:

* Designs, builds, and maintains APIs in a cloud-based micro-services architecture. Re-platforms existing applications to API, cloud, and micro-services architecture with minimal impact to consuming applications.

* Provides senior-level expertise in an initiative to build or re-platform select business services as APIs for internal and external consumption

* Defines the bounded context for conceptual API models. Writes specifications for APIs.

* Provides leadership and guidance to technical team on developing solutions that integrate with existing IT systems and satisfies business needs.

* Develops automated tests for functional, performance, and security testing using TDD methodology

* Implements instrumentation for monitoring product health, business metrics, and consumption patterns

* Thoroughly understands and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established milestones.

Specializations thatll make an impact

* 5+ years software engineering experience.
* Advanced experience developing REST and GraphQL microservices in Node.js using the NestJS or Express.js frameworks
* Advanced front-end experience with Angular 6, JavaScript ES6, TypeScript, HTML, CSS and SCSS

* Experience with developing Java REST services Spring, Jersey

* Test automation and test-driven development practices and frameworks mutation testing, functional testing (JUnit, Cucumber), mock frameworks (Mockito, etc.), contract testing

* Familiarity with DevOps concepts, tools and continuous delivery pipelines Bamboo, Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, Jira, etc.

* Ability to implement instrumentation to gather business-specific metrics around consumer usage patterns

Nice to have:

* Experience with API management platforms, design standards, patterns and best practices

* Knowledge of cloud development/engineering best practices

* Knowledge AWS Lambda, ECS and/or EKS

* Knowledge of cloud data stores S3, Dynamo DB and/or Amazon RDS
