This is a 2nd shift position.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Responsible for the daily operations of performing heating treatments on machined parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Prepare furnace loads, load and unload furnaces, and monitor furnace cycles.
* Verify proper parts treatment using hardness testers.
* Work with the metallurgical lab as required to verify product results and proper furnace atmospheres.
* Operate and monitor high temperature carburizing furnaces, parts washer, tempering furnaces, endothermic gas generator, and cryogenic freezer.
* Load and unload gear deburr machine and operate in a safe, efficient manner.
* Ensure operation quality of belt sand and wire brush process.
* Follow 5S guidelines for keeping department clean, organized, and safe.
* Understand and have knowledge in scheduling furnace loads to support all shifts.
* Perform weekly PM activities on furnaces, generators, washers, temper ovens, and quench tanks.
* Ability to setup/change over belt sand and wire brush machine.
* Ability to recover furnaces from major jam, power failures, chain breakages, switch malfunctions, etc.
* Monitor multiple furnaces and equipment.
* Perform minor adjustments and maintenance as needed.
* Operate and shot blast, straightening, and oil impregnation equipment.
* Understands and follows the Jackson sites environmental policy and the environmental impacts associated with their work activities.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

KEY COMPETENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES

* Must be able to push loaded carts loaded with up to 50 lbs
* Must exhibit safe work habits at all times
* Must be capable of following written and verbal instructions at all times including method and setup sheets, heat treat quality checklist, parts traveler, and HT process guarantee sheet
* Must be flexible and willing to work the necessary overtime in order to meet aggressive goals
* Must be able to interpret basic blueprints including hardness specs, run out and straight dimensions
* Should have experience in heat treat record tracking and filing metallurgical lab reports

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines. Equivalent to four years high school, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus Not indicated. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
