Lockheed Martin Spaces Advanced Technology Center is seeking exceptional research scientists with a strong technical background who demonstrate a passion for collaboration across a diverse, high-performing organization and a motivation to discover creative solutions.

The Optical Sensing and Laser Technology group works to solve the nations and LMs toughest problems by creating, developing, maturing, and transitioning innovating technologies that enable a new generation of Lasers, Sensors, and optical systems.
Our team supports a wide variety of mission areas and customers, applying cutting edge disciplines such as optical system design, novel laser and sensor development and mission analysis . In this role you will provide technical support to senior researchers in the areas of laser systems, sensor development, remote sensing, and digital.
Basic Qualifications:
Currently Enrolled in a Bachelor or graduate degree program in Engineering, Physics, or related degree. This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidates to be a US Citizen.
Desired Skills:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated proficiency or mastery of at least several of the desired skills, as well as the interest, motivation, and ability to learn and grow in the other desired skill areas.
Experience or familiarity of optical engineering/design principals and key performance drivers
Strong technical writing, presentation and overall communication skills for reports, proposals, technical presentations, and interaction with customers, team members, suppliers, and academic/industry collaborators.
Able to communicate complex ideas and explain relevant technology and concepts to an audience of both experts and non-experts.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a geographically distributed team environment.

Coursework or laboratory experience with electro-optical systems, digital electronics, including or related to remote sensing systems, astronomical telescopes, lasers, cameras, and laboratory optical diagnostic instrumentation
Experience or familiarity with optical design and analysis software tools. Examples include Zemax, FRED, GLAD, Code-V and LASCAD
Experience or familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, LabView, MathCAD, Mathematica
and/or flight testing
