The Department
The Business Strategy & Development team is a fully integrated team of Client Portfolio Managers (CPMs) and Product Managers, created to support and service our investment capabilities across diversified channels and regions. The teams purpose is to maximize franchise value through best-in-class product positioning, leading as client advocates, and implementing business plans to drive organic growth, profitability, and asset retention.
Your Role
The role of the Product Manager is to support a suite of Real Asset products within the Invesco Listed Real Asset team. Real assets are defined as real estate, infrastructure, natural resources, and timber among others. The role requires exceptional skills and creativity in communications, relationship building, and analytics, as well as a passion for the investment management industry, products, competition, and the capital markets.
The Product Manager should be proficient at articulating a strategys investment philosophy and process, portfolio positioning, role in an investors portfolio and market environment. This individual works closely with the portfolio managers and CPMs to act as a liaison between the investment team and both internal and external parties on product-specific matters. The individual also acts as a business manager for their strategies collaborating closely with legal, compliance, marketing and other departments to help with content and other potential issues. Key to success in this role is demonstrating the ability to think outside of the box regarding marketing of the products, and to be nimble and re-focus quickly as business needs evolve. Because the Product Manager acts as an extension of the portfolio management team, they are viewed as a subject matter expert on investment and product issues pertaining to their strategies.
You will be responsible for:
Product/Investment Expertise
Be an expert of assigned products and asset class understand all aspects of the products, including pricing, structures, history, stage of life cycle, strengths & weaknesses, client exposures and sales trends, etc.
Know the competitive landscape/peer group; stay current on market trends and competitive developments. Be able to clearly articulate what differentiates our products from the competition
Utilize performance and risk analysis tools to clearly articulate drivers of performance, portfolio positioning and the current market environment
Distribution & Marketing Support
Enter into a full partnership with the investment team to support them in any sales/client relationship activities including presentations and other materials
Apply creativity to continually evolve messaging to adapt to client needs and opportunities
Provide regular updates and product content such as commentaries and RFPs/RFIs
Act as a conduit for feedback between Sales/clients and internal teams
Create actionable, value-added insights on products, along with competitive and market opportunities, to our client-facing teams
Build and maintain a line up of marketing materials to support assigned products
Provide Sales with product expertise for client opportunities, and participate as needed in direct client-facing meetings
Business Management
Have a business owners mindset - maintain a plan to support key products and act as a primary contact for product-specific requests
Cultivate excellent relationships with investment teams, Client Portfolio Managers and other departments: Sales, Marketing, Product teams, Compliance, Legal, etc.
Partner with Product Development for launch of new products, including product positioning, marketing materials and sales training
The experience you bring:
3-5 years of experience in financial services or investment management. Preference for a real estate, infrastructure or equity background
Technical skills, including strong investment acumen, understanding of financial markets and economics. Experience with Morningstar Direct and StyleAdvisor preferred
Exceptional Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint Skills
Series 7 and 63 preferred
