The Department
The Business Strategy & Development team is a fully integrated team of Client Portfolio Managers (CPMs) and Product Managers, built to support and service our investment capabilities across diversified channels and regions. The teams purpose is to improve franchise value through best-in-class product positioning, leading as client advocates, and implementing business plans to drive organic growth, profitability, and asset retention.
Investment Capability Summary: Invesco U.S. Value Team is one of the largest value investment managers in the world, with over $60 billion in assets under management as of October 31, 2020. As part of Invesco U.S. Value team, the Invesco Dividend Value team was established in 2002 and now manages over $20 billion across the Diversified Dividend and Dividend Income strategies. The team is collectively responsible for investment strategy, asset allocation, portfolio construction, research, security selection, and risk management across these strategies.
Your Role
The Senior Client Portfolio Manager acts as an integral part of the portfolio management team and possesses deep knowledge of capital markets and the teams investment philosophy and process across specific strategies. The Senior CPM is regarded as a credible investor who acts as the primary interface between our client-facing teams and the investment team. The Senior CPM interacts with the portfolio management team daily to understand past and current portfolio positioning, performance attribution, the rationale for specific holdings and portfolio activity, risk attributes, views of the team/asset class, and has primary responsibility for conveying this information effectively to retail and institutional clients including gate-keepers, research analysts and consultants, and internal colleagues. The Senior CPM will maintain detailed knowledge of the competitive landscape/peer group, stay current on market trends and developments in all relevant distribution channels, and be able to clearly articulate what differentiates our products from the competition. The Senior CPM acts in partnership with the Product Manager and/or Senior Product Manager on all business and marketing related projects. You will be responsible for:
Business Development
Grow and retain business by representing the investment team and key investment strategies to clients.
Play a lead role in managing new institutional and sub-advisory business opportunities by working with the distribution teams to educate consultants, investment platform gatekeepers and prospects on a given investment strategy.
Includes participation in the RFP/RFI process and addressing ad hoc prospect questions.
Participate in Finals presentations and due diligence meetings as needed.
Service existing clients via in-person meetings (on- and off-site), conference calls and board / investment committee meetings, as needed in place of Portfolio Managers.
Provide portfolio updates and insights to drive client engagement and dedication.
Understand distribution opportunities in each channel and shape product strategy with the product manager.
Thought Leadership
Drive the development of research, presentations and position papers.
This includes monitoring key investment and industry trends, working with research and product development and identifying issues and topics that leverage insights into the marketplace.
This individual will leverage publications, speaking engagements, public relations and marketing channels to drive key messages into the market.
Present at Invesco roundtables, industry conferences, and PR opportunities.
Distribution & Marketing Support
Build positive relationships with the Distribution teams supporting their efforts to execute and effective sales strategy.
Support Distribution with training, large conferences, meeting support. Lead the ongoing internal and external experience for our products and work with Marketing to support product specific content.
Assist Sales with custom proposals for significant business opportunities and participate in client calls/meetings as needed.
Liaise with the firms various marketing and RFP teams to ensure all data and responses regarding a given product are accurate and appropriate.
Assist with quarterly investment commentaries and regulatory commentary content.
Work Experience / Knowledge:
* 15+ years of investment-related client-facing experience with a focus on Value style investment strategies.
* Experience working in the institutional marketplace including plan sponsors and investment committees in the corporate, public, endowment/foundation and international markets;
* investment consultants; retirement plan gatekeepers; and investment platform research analysts.
Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:
* Good people and influence management skills.
* Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Passion for the industry and capital markets is a must.
* Technical skills, including strong investment acumen, understanding of financial markets and economics, proficiency with Bloomberg, Microsoft Office, Morningstar and other software products.
* Entrepreneurial spirit, with a focus on continuous improvement, willingness to take risks, embrace and lead change, determination to find creative solutions to problems. Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
* Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business or related discipline.
* MBA/CFA and/or direct money management experience preferred.
License/Registration/Certification: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
* Series 7 and 63 required.
Working Conditions:
* Expected at least 50% travel.
